Job Summary
Under the direction of the Developmental Disabilities Agency Director, the Developmental Specialist supervises Technicians in their service delivery to adults with developmental disabilities. The Developmental Specialist writes, trains on and implements program goals, taking a person centered approach in all aspects of their position.
Responsibilities
- Write, develop, and maintain program goals that enhance the quality of care for individuals with behavioral health challenges and disabilities.
- Monitor and evaluate individual progress and recommend individual treatment plan adjustments
- Stay updated on industry trends and best practices related to caregiving, direct support, and behavior management.
- Supervise daily routines of participants involved in treatment activities to ensure daily schedules, training procedures, and safety procedures are followed.
- Ensures any changes in medical status are immediately reported to the Director; takes emergency action when necessary
- Coordinate staff meetings, oversee and train staff in appropriate use of logs/written documentation, and use information in logs/written documentation to communicate to staff as necessary
- Demonstrate specific therapy techniques related to the long and short term objectives and participates in staff training procedures
Requirements
- Minimum of two hundred forty (240) hours of professionally supervised experience with individuals who have developmental disabilities and either:
- Possess a bachelor's or master's degree in special education, early childhood special education, speech and language pathology, applied behavioral analysis, psychology, physical therapy, occupational therapy, social work, or therapeutic recreation, or other human services/studies as approved
- Ability to pass a criminal background check through the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare
- Current Driver’s License, Auto Insurance and good driving record
- Vehicle - maintained and in proper order
- Ability to obtain and maintain First Aid/CPR certification and obtain certification as an Unlicensed Assistive Personnel
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $19.00 - $23.00 per hour
