HL Mando America Corporation is Hiring a Validation Engineer - Mechanical Testing Near Bay, MI

Job Purpose:

Responsible for lab facilities, testing, report, maintenance and reports for DV/PV testing on braking components (calipers, EMB and iDB). The candidate needs to have experience testing the mechanical parts of brake, steering or suspension components. 

Job Description:

The main responsibilities for this position include, but are not restricted to:

  • Work with Design and Applications Engineers to understand product requirements and required validation test and methods and ensure Mando has at its disposal a means of completing required testing.
  • Test scheduling and tracking – ensure testing is scheduled to meet Mando and customer milestones. Work with Applications Engineering to understand required due dates and work with Technicians to develop and maintain schedule. Keep Mando team informed of status/timing.
  • Keep up to date with industry best practices for Reliability & Validating testing for brake products.
  • Determine gaps between new test methods, customer requirements and Mando capabilities and develop appropriate countermeasures.
  • Develop test equipment, hardware and software to develop test methods. Develop specifications and RFQ’s for new equipment purchases. Work with suppliers, evaluate proposals, and propose best solution for Mando to Mando management. 
  • Create procedures and scripts for all required tests.
  • Create and maintain templates for data reduction and analysis. 
  • Test report writing
  • Track and maintain equipment calibration. 
  • Provide training to local engineers on test equipment and methods (DVP&R, data reduction, test results analysis etc).
  • Support root cause analysis and issue resolutions on application programs.
  • When requested, represent Mando team in customer discussions related to R&V testing.
  • Development and maintenance of a series of modular tests designed to diagnose and learn about product performance and robustness

Qualifications:

Minimum of bachelor degree in mechanical engineering or related field.

Technical Competencies:

Approximately 5-15 years of experience in the automotive industry, preferably in testing of foundation brake or similar products. Experience with instrumentation and data acquisition for brake testing equipment. Familiarity and experience with all typical testing equipment used in the brake industry for lab testing. Must possess strong analytical and problem solving skills and be able to connect academic knowledge with practical problems. MS Office literacy is required. Visual Basic programing and ability to create macros in MS Office required.
