The Splicing Manager plays a pivotal role in overseeing splicing operations and GC’s in the field for OSP Construction Projects. Reporting directly to the Division Manager, this role involves leading a team of splicers, ensuring efficient deployment of resources, and maintaining high standards of quality and safety throughout the splicing process.

Responsibilities:

Manage and oversee splicing operations for Outside Plant construction projects, including fiber optic cable installation, termination, fusion splicing, and testing.

Develop and implement splicing plans, schedules, and procedures to ensure timely completion of projects within budget and to customer specifications.

Build, lead and supervise a team of splicers, providing training, guidance, and performance feedback to maintain productivity, quality, and safety standards.

Attend deployment and customer meetings as a subject matter expert, building and maintaining customer relationships that may result in influencing customers to award service work.

Conduct regular site visits during all phases of construction, providing direction to general contractors and ensuring compliance with safety standards.

Understand prevailing rates for construction work and negotiate costs within project scope, holding vendors accountable to maintain budgets.

Manage inventory of splicing equipment, tools, and materials, ensuring they are properly maintained and calibrated for optimal performance.

Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and field personnel to coordinate splicing activities and resolve any technical issues or challenges that may arise during construction.

Ensure work is assigned and performed to meet required completion dates while ensuring compliance with company construction standards, processes, and procedures.

Stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and technological advancements related to fiber optic splicing and Outside Plant construction.

Qualifications:

High School Diploma or equivalent.

Minimum of three (3) years of experience in telecommunications, with a focus on Outside Plant construction and fiber optic splicing.

Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to manage a team effectively.

Familiarity test equipment and techniques for performing RF sweep test, OTDR, Power Meter and Passive Intermodulation (PIM) testing.

Working knowledge of NESC, NEC and OSHA standards.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.

Proficient in project management software and Microsoft Office applications.

Ability to travel to project sites and work flexible hours as needed.

Clear driving record valid driver's license

  • Not required, however highlyrecommended Bicsi or FOA or any formal telecommunication or fiber optics training.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Hourly Rate Range: $39.00 - $43.00 DOE
  • Medical, Dental, Vision Coverage, Supplemental Insurance through Aflac, & 401K plan
