They’re seeking an experienced Underwriting Specialist to handle underwriting for new and renewal business, including complex multi-line risks such as workers compensation, commercial auto, and general liability. You will seek new commercial insurance solutions and pursue opportunities through your network of brokers and agents. You'll also maintain and grow a base of prospects to expand your large account book. Additionally, you will contribute to broker and agency management strategies and lead relationship management plans.
The Ideal Candidate:

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 7 years in casualty underwriting with an insurance carrier.
• Expertise in underwriting mechanics and principles.
• In-depth knowledge of casualty coverage and loss-sensitive structures like retrospective rating, large deductible, captive, and self-insurance, plus financial and account management.
• Familiarity with local/regional market conditions and industry trends.
• Strong understanding of the underwriting territory and established relationships with local and regional agents, brokers, and consultants.
• Proven skills in marketing, prospecting, relationship building, and agency management.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills to identify business needs.
• Collaborative mindset and teamwork experience with Claims, Risk Control, and other departments.
• Willingness to travel as needed.
• Professional designations such as CPCU or Associate in Risk Management are preferred.
