HOERBIGER Corporation of America (HCA) is seeking an Application Engineer with experience working with reciprocating compressors. This position will focus on Rings and Packing.

The Application Engineer provides technical support associated with our products including: works directly with Customers and with the Sales Team to select/design appropriate products for customer applications, provides technical support to manufacturing on issues associated with manufacturing of the products, and troubleshoots product issues. Customers include OEMs as well as compressor owners in the oil/gas/chemical industries.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Selection and Design of Hoerbiger products as appropriate for customer applications and to meet customer requirements.
• General technical support to customers on products (by phone, in person or written communication)
• Provide technical support to manufacturing floor regarding non-conforming products, or issues with the manufacturing process
• Participate in process improvement activities related to manufacturing processes

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field
• Minimum 5 years manufacturing experience in an engineering position; prior experience with reciprocating compressors required
• Specialized knowledge: Rings and Packing components in reciprocating compressors, Reciprocating Compressor design and application, Metallic and Polymeric Materials, Machining and Finishing of Metals and Polymers, Compressible Fluids, Tribology, Processes in Oil and Gas and Petrochemical Industry
• Basic 3D modeling (CAD/Solidworks/Inventor) and Product Data Management
• Experience in the oil/gas industry extremely helpful
• Basic familiarity with machining or machine shop experience
• Excellent problem solving and analytical skills
• Strong communication skills – able to represent the company to customers,
• Must be able to travel as needed (occasional domestic travel and infrequent international travel)
• Must currently have a legal right to work in the United States.
