Our St. Louis practice is currently seeking an Associate General Counsel to be part of our collaborative and first-class legal team who are passionate about serving their internal clients. With over 1700 employees across 26 offices on three continents, our internal stake holders across the company look to the legal team to assist them in delivering HOK's services from complex contracts to legal advise to project deliver teams. We are presented with some of the most challenging and complex problems that HOK faces as a company. A successful candidate in the is role will have the intellectual curiosity required to thoroughly understand a problem or issue, the analytical ability to identify solutions and the follow-through and creativity required to bring the issue to resolution. Collaboration and working together is key to our group's ability to solve these problems.
Your Responsibilities As Associate General CounselAs Associate General Counsel at HOK, you will oversee the defense of ongoing claims and manage claim evaluations, inclusive of litigation strategies and resolution process on professional liability claims. You will act as a liaison for project management teams with defense counsel and oversee company responses to discovery and document requests. You will also focus on contract reviews and negotiations, including client agreements and subconsultant agreements; advise on a wide range of legal, regulatory and compliance matters; and serve as a legal partner to business units by understanding business needs and working to develop practical and timely solutions that meet those needs. You will work with others on the legal team to align resources to meet the changing needs of the business and to support new growth initiatives. As a member of the legal team, you will promote a collaborative, respectful and sustainable environment.

  • You have advanced knowledge of legal principles and contract law, including knowledge of AIA Contract Documentation.
Qualifications
  • You have a minimum of 3-4 years experience as an attorney in a law firm or corporate setting, preferable in the corporate/transaction practice area.
  • Contract experience is required. Knowledge and experience with Professional Service Agreements and/or design/constructions a plus.
  • You bring a law degree from an ABA accredited law school and serve as a member in good standing with a state bar association.
  • You have solid technology and computer skills including proficiency with MS Office Applications (including Word, Excel, Powerpoint).
