Assistant General Manager
The Assistant General Manager will work closely with the General Manager and other department heads to ensure that the hotel is operated in a courteous and professional manner.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Front Desk
Supervises and ensures the Front Desk is run in a professional manner in accordance with the management company’s and hotel’s policies
New Hire Process
Coordinates and monitors Orientation & all Training for new and existing employees
Inside Sales
Maintains contact with group contacts to secure rooming lists and signed contracts
Back Office Reports
Reviews and processes select Direct Bill statements
Qualifications:
Education and/or Experience: High School Diploma (or GED or High School Equivalence Certificate). 2-5 years of hotel experience preferred.
Computer Skills: General computer knowledge including but not limited to: Adobe, Excel, Word, Internet Explorer, and Microsoft Outlook. Website training a plus.
Responsible for completing required franchise standards training and staying current on all updates/changes to standards, policies, and processes.
· Assigns duties to staff and observes performance to ensure adherence to hotel policies and established operating procedures.
· Directly supervises front desk staff consisting of 2-8 employees.
Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
· Provides training to staff.
· Completes new hire paperwork and orientation as directed by General Manager.
· Maintains accurate records including cash flow sheet, direct bill accounts, credit card receipts, registration cards, reservation cards, direct bills, credit cards, and IRS.
· Conducts or assists in leading staff meetings.
· Adheres to all franchise and company procedures and regulations as well as standard operating procedures.
· Receives and resolves guest complaints and employee issues.
Performs functions of the General Manager in his or her absence.
· Available 24/7 with reliable transportation.
· Covers shifts in all departments as scheduled by the General Manager.
· Corresponds with group and travel agents to answer special requests for rooms and rates.
· Assists with sales and marketing efforts as directed.
· Answers inquiries pertaining to hotel policies and services.
· Assists General Manager in annual wage scale surveys; ensures employee wages follow wage and salary.
· Assist General Manager with weekly/monthly inventories for pantry, laundry, and housekeeping. Review inventory levels against established pars and discuss purchase of needed inventory items.
· Conduct routine inspections of both guest rooms and public space, ensuring that the entire hotel is kept clean, and well maintained at all times during scheduled work shifts.
