Holiday Inn Express Fredericksburg Southpoint is Hiring a Breakfast Attendant Near Fredericksburg, VA

Job Description Summary:

Serve food and beverages to guests in the breakfast room. Prepares and displays all items according to hotel and franchise specifications.

Job Tasks:

  • Acknowledges all guests in timely and pleasant manner.
  • Serves all guests in efficient, timely and pleasant manner.
  • Keeps all food and beverages stocked per hotel and franchise standards in a timely, efficient and service oriented manner.
  • Follows up with all guests to assure satisfaction, monitors all guest comments, addresses appropriately and, if possible, resolves guest complaints and informs management in a timely manner.
  • Keeps guests’ hot and cold drinks refreshed as able depending on volume of guests.
  • Maintains sanitation requirements.
  • Performs opening and closing for the breakfast area.
  • Perform other duties as required or requested by management staff.

Other Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Communicate with supervisors, peers or subordinates – provide information to supervisors, peers and subordinates in person, in writing, by telephone or by email in a professional manner consistent with the policies of the hotel.
  • Maintain a friendly, positive attitude with guests and employees.
  • Adhere to all policies, procedures and standards set forth by this department, the Hotel, and the management company.
  • Comply with all safety, OSHA and Serve Safe requirements. o Maintain a professional and clean working environment.
  • Report to work as scheduled, in professional attire. (Franchise approved uniform) to Direct any questions or concerns to Front Office Manager or General Manager.

  • Guest and Personal Service - provide optimum guest service by actively looking for ways to help the guest.

Ability to convey information effectively, to listen with full attention to what other people are saying, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times. This includes guest needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of guest satisfaction.

  • Language Skills - excellent spoken and written English communication skills.
  • Reasoning Ability - Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Sales and Marketing – Knowledge of hotel services, area attractions, businesses and shopping and methods for promoting them as well as the ability to build guest rapport to ensure repeat visits and guest referrals – “sales techniques”. Must be able to identify, pursue and communicate to appropriate team members - “sales leads”

Required Skills:

  • Equipment Expertise – Required to operate basic kitchen equipment i.e. microwave, toaster, hot beverage machines, etc.
  • Mathematical Skills - Basic knowledge of mathematical skills - (ability to add, subtract, multiply, or divide quickly and correctly) - as necessary to perform the functions of the position.
  • Certificates/Licenses - Must obtain required health and franchise certifications within time frame allotted and must be willing to attend and participate in other training seminars, webinars, etc. as required by hotel, franchisor, and the management company.

Abilities Required:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee should be able to move around and work with others in a small, confined area.   • Trunk Strength – the ability to use your abdominal and lower back muscles to support part of the body repeatedly or continuously over time without “giving out” or fatiguing. Must be able to walk and stand for several hours at a time.
  • Wrist-Finger Speed – the ability to make fast, simple, repeated movements of the fingers, hands, and wrists.
  • Lifting – the ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. Must be able to carry full and empty food and beverage containers from kitchen to breakfast area and vice versa.
  • Physical Dexterity - Must reach, bend, stoop and wipe and walk steps.

Special Abilities:

Must be dependable and flexible in scheduling and prioritization. Must be able to adjust tasks in accordance with changing deadlines and priorities.
