Position Description
This position is responsible for assisting with implementation and delivery of the agency’s school-based child abuse prevention program. Routine duties will include teaching the curriculum online or in-person, organizing program materials, collecting data, preparing reports, interacting with volunteers, and assisting with program evaluation and marketing efforts as needed. Work happens during the school day, mostly Mondays-Thursdays.
Essential Functions
Implement and deliver school and community-based prevention education to ensure Holly’s House mission and goals are met.
Appear in PreK-6 classrooms as assigned and educate children using agreed upon curriculum OR deliver online presentations through virtual platforms, as well as support the teaching of teammates through tech support and monitoring.
Utilize a variety of techniques including, but not limited to, props, costumes, technology and other methods as directed.
Evaluate programs on an ongoing basis to ensure they are meeting the needs and interest of participants.
Collect program data and assist in analysis of program effectiveness.
Other duties as assigned.
Essential Knowledge and Skills
Bachelor’s degree with an emphasis in elementary education, social services or related field required.
Excellent communication skills, including public speaking and written presentation skills.
Mastery of the English language and ability to speak and be understood in English.
Past experience as a teacher or program facilitator in elementary classrooms.
Ability to relate to and engage children in learning about sensitive topics.
Ability to accomplish projects with little supervision.
Strong organizational skills.
Exceptional customer service orientation and high expectations for quality.
Knowledge of the dynamics of child abuse and area social service providers.
Must obtain and maintain a valid driver’s license and the ability to legally operate a vehicle.
Dedicated and responsible to timely participation and teaching students.
Working Relationships
Reports to organizational leadership.
Interacts with a variety of internal staff and external partners.
Functional Requirements
The position requires:
Standing for extended periods of time while teaching a class.
Regularly visiting and giving presentations in classrooms throughout elementary schools, which may require extensive movement to set up and oversee activities, make presentations and interact with students.
The use of computers and computer systems (hardware and software) to set up functions, enter data, create documents, presentations, and spreadsheets, and process information. Must obtain information from written documents. Must be capable of presenting via virtual classroom platforms, such as Google Meet.
Effective problem solving and the presentation of a professional demeanor while meeting obligations and achieving critical outcomes, even under demanding conditions such as multiple priorities and changing conditions.
Creativity and resourcefulness in developing new ideas to achieve Holly’s House goals and in outreaching to new school contacts.
Regular Work Hours/Travel Requirements
Part-time work happens within standard work hours, between 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, Monday through Thursday and some Fridays. Occasional irregular hours, including early mornings, evenings and/or weekends may be required.
Frequent local travel to schools for class presentations.
