ELEMENTARY TEACHER

Holy Cross Lutheran Academy is a Christian school in Seminole County conveniently located near Volusia, Lake and Orange counties. HCLA partners with families to focus on loving God, loving others, and instilling a love for learning.

The ideal candidate will possess a thorough knowledge of his/her teaching assignment and will have demonstrated successful teaching at the elementary level. A strong background and understanding of child development is essential to the role as well as an enthusiasm and passion for teaching young children.

Responsibilities:

Prepare and implement developmentally appropriate lessons and units of study consistent with grade level curriculum

Differentiate instruction as needed to meet the needs of all students

Use formative and summative assessments to evaluate and inform student learning and growth

Use appropriate classroom management strategies and provide a supporting and caring learning environment where each child feels safe to share their ideas and make mistakes

Communicate with parents by a variety of methods such as: phone, email, newsletters, formal reports, and conferences

Encourage positive Church/School relations.

Follow basic Lutheran teaching and ensure Christian connections are made in each content area

Dress in a professional, practical manner.

Actively engage in the school community by participating in faculty meetings, field trips, recess and lunch duties, and additional school events

Maintain an organized, inclusive classroom environment, including the display of students’ work, classroom guidelines, bulletin boards,and a neat and orderly appearance conducive to student learning

Keep written records of student progress and growth for grading and reporting purposes

Enhance one’s own knowledge, understanding, and skill through ongoing professional development

Qualifications and Skills:

• Bachelor’s degree with teaching qualification or equivalent.

• Experience as an elementary teacher (K-5) preferred

• Strong knowledge and understanding of child development and best practices in education

• Ability to use and integrate technology effectively in a classroom setting

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $38,000.00 per year
