The QIDP has 24-hour responsibility for the health, safety, programs, and services to consumers residing in assigned house(s).
ResponsibilitiesDo you enjoy helping others grow? Are you a team player? As a Qualified Intellectual Disability Professional (QIDPs) with Home of Guiding Hands, you are a part of the management team that supports and cares for clients with developmental and intellectual disabilities. QIDPs are responsible for:
  • Coordinating services and therapies for the need of the clients and locations
  • Mentoring Case Managers and House Managers to grow within the company
  • Collaborating with Direct Care Staff to improve client care needs
  • Ensure fulfillment in Home of Guiding Hands Mission and Values
  • Responsible in the communication of training, safety, and agency policies

**Our Location:**
Our residential locations are spread out within East County San Diego. It is an estimate of no more than 20 miles from our main office in El Cajon. Location assignments are discussed within the interview process.
Consumer Services**ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:**
  • Ensure fulfillment of the Agency's mission.
  • Chairperson of the Interdisciplinary Team and the development of the Individual Service Plan (ISP).
  • Participate in preadmission interviews and transitional planning.
  • Identify consumer needs, strengths and interests.
  • Meet with consultants to provide information regarding skills and behavior.
  • Ensure follow-through with all ID Team decisions.
  • Design, implement and monitor the delivery of programs.
  • Evaluate progress on programs at least quarterly and revise as needed.
  • Coordinate consistent services and acts as a liaison with schools, day programs, consultants, community agencies, families and intra-agency services.
  • Ensure consumer rights and advocate accordingly.
  • Ensure compliance with agency policies and procedures as related to duties.
  • Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations as related to duties.
Staff Supervision And Training
  • Coach employees to ensure fulfillment of the Agency's mission.
  • Provide initial and ongoing training for direct care staff.
  • Provide direct supervision of staff and their duties within the homes assigned.
  • Evaluate staff performance and provide ongoing feedback.
  • Implement/follow through with disciplinary action as deemed appropriate.
  • Ensure compliance with agency policies and procedures as related to duties.
  • Ensure compliance with state and federal regulation as related to duties.
Administrative Duties
  • Complete inter-agency paperwork accurately and timely.
  • Manage and be accountable for department budgets.
  • Explain variances for budget infractions and develop plans of prevention.
  • Maintain a flexible work schedule to ensure quality of services.
  • Ensure adequate staffing and scheduling.
  • Attend and participate in agency meetings as required.
  • Facilitate Human Rights meeting as required.
  • Ensure availability through cell phone.
  • Lead Mock Survey teams as assigned.
  • Ensure compliance with agency policies and procedures as related to duties.
  • Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations as related to duties.
Communication
  • Communicate pertinent information to appropriate ID Team members, family members, case managers, consultants, agency staff etc.
  • Ensure through and timely documentation in consumer records.
  • Conduct self in an open, honest, respectful and professional manner in all forms of communication with all individuals with whom contact is necessary.
  • Maintain confidentiality with consumer, staff and agency issues as appropriate.

Physical Demands/Working Conditions
  • Regularly and frequently required to perform physical activity including walking, standing, sitting, reaching, carrying, lifting, bending, twisting, stooping, kneeling; and will assist with lifting, moving, and transferring adult residents from wheelchairs, shower chairs, toilets, beds, chairs etc. to a variety of locations within the home and community. Will occasionally be required to lift up to 51 lbs.
  • Work involves a significant amount of locomotion including the operation of an agency vehicle (in town & freeway driving) and movement of residents to and from the vehicle to the office, clinics, community agencies, schools, and day programs.
  • May be exposed to virus and/or infection.
  • May have work schedule changed based on operational needs with appropriate notice.
  • Must be available and willing to work such overtime, weekend, and holiday hours as the Agency determines are necessary or desirable to meet its business and resident needs.
  • Due to the nature of the job requirements, Residential Supervisors have a working lunch and the hours of work are inclusive of the mealtime.
  • Must be available to cover open shifts as needed.
Competencies**Education:**
BA in Social Work or field related to developmental disabilities or valid CA registration/certification in education, OT, PT, RN, Rehab Counseling, Speech Pathology, MD or Osteopathy.
Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
  • Read, write, and understand the English language.
  • Able to establish and maintain effective relationships with consumers, co-workers, neighbors, volunteers, vendors, and the general public.
  • Possess high degree of patience and the ability to tolerate frustrating situations.
  • Knowledge of HIPPA Guidelines and Patient Privacy required.
  • Current CPR/First Aid certification is mandatory.
  • Able to multi-task and manage work time efficiently.
  • Able to see, talk, hear, walk, bend, stoop, sit, stand, reach, and lift items weighing 30 pounds or less repeatedly during a shift.
  • Able to lawfully and safely drive an agency vehicle in all traffic situations and weather conditions.
  • Able to perform housekeeping tasks such as laundry, bed-making, meal prep, cooking and housecleaning.
  • Medication certified.
  • Proficient with Computers
ExperienceOne-year experience working with people with developmental disabilities. Two years of supervisory experience. Experience managing multiple sites and a caseload upwards of 18 persons.

Other Conditions Of Employment
  • Must be at least 18 years of age at the time of hire.
  • Must pass a pre-employment health screening/TB Test; and annually thereafter.
  • Have a criminal records clearance from DHS and/or DSS (Live Scan fingerprinting).
  • Must possess a valid California driver's license, proof of safe driving record (current DMV report required) and have 24 months of licensed driving experience.
  • Must complete all other required new hire training including CPR/First Aid.
  • Must maintain confidentiality of consumer Protected Health Information (PHI) used for treatment, payment, health care, etc. and personal information of consumers.
As an agency we fall under the California mandate and Public Heath Order and have a mandatory COVID-19 Vaccination policy which requires all of our employees to be fully vaccinated, including boosters. Applicants and employees may request an exemption from this requirement for medical or religious reasons. Such exemptions are not guaranteed and are evaluated on a case-by-case basis.
