Home State Bank has a Deposit Operations Specialist opening in Crystal Lake, IL. This is an in-office position and not work from home.

Deposit Operations Specialist:

The Deposit Operations Specialist plays a key role in a cross-functional department, contributing to the overall efficiency of Deposit Operations. This position is responsible for reviewing fraud claims, Reg E disputes, and merchant chargebacks, ensuring compliance and determining liability. The specialist also assists with delinquent accounts, reviews daily NSF reports, and helps identify risk patterns and behaviors. This position will be cross trained to back up other Deposit Operations roles in the event of an absence.

  • Analyzes fraud claims, Reg E disputes, and merchant chargebacks submitted by customers to determine liability, appropriate deadlines, and compliance requirements.
  • Leverages various systems to investigate claims and communicates with merchants, payment processors, vendors, banks, and relevant parties to collect information and resolve disputes.
  • Corresponds with Fiserv to provide additional information as needed to proceed with disputes.
  • Accesses various reporting tools to identify risks and potential fraud, taking swift actions such as disabling access devices, returning transactions, or escalating to management.
  • Reviews and completes the daily NSF report and applies analytical skills to make informed decisions on paying or returning items.
  • Proactively manages delinquent accounts by contacting customers to address overdrawn balances. Communication methods include phone calls, emails, and mail.
  • Answers inbound calls and inquiries from team members and customers, providing professional and accurate assistance regarding fraud, charge-offs, delinquent accounts, and other financial inquiries.
  • Balances GLs as assigned.
  • Provides project oversight for Deposit Operations and assists with additional tasks or responsibilities as assigned by management.


ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Processes returned items, non-post, stop payments, and Fed adjustments.
  • Reviews foreign items, returned mail, proof adjustments, and mobile deposits.
  • Validates deposit and customer file maintenance.
  • Responds to deposit verification requests.
  • Performs as a backup team member for the Wire Department.
  • Perform and assume other related duties as assigned.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES


  • Ability to communicate on the telephone with customers, at times the customer may be upset or emotional depending on the topic.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in processing customer and bank transactions.
  • Internal / External customer relations skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with customers, team members, and management.
  • Good organizational skills and a strong attention to detail
  • Good computer and word processing skills
  • Knowledge of Reg E regulations and ability to meet outlined timeframes for compliance.
  • Experience in reviewing fraud alerts and identifying potential fraud patterns and trends is desirable.

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

  • High School diploma or GED
  • At least two years of banking experience, preferred.
