We are seeking an Assistant Controller to join our growing Homes By WestBay Accounting team. The Assistant Controller is responsible for supporting accounting management, assisting in developing internal controls and policies, preparing financial statements, managing journal entries, assisting in budgeting, and forecasting, and reviewing accounting information for accuracy. This position supports Corporate Controller and CFO with financial management tasks.

Job Requirements:

• Completes records to or through trial balance.
• Supervises and hires all assigned subordinate staff.
• Evaluates employee performance and provides guidance and feedback to assigned staff.
• Provides historical data as required for budget development and planning.
• Monitors, reviews, and verifies accounting records and transactions for accuracy, timeliness, and adequacy of supporting documentation.
• Ensures compliance with internal policies and agency rules and regulations.
• Oversees account reconciliation and production of regularly scheduled summary reports, income statements and financial statements for assigned accounting operations.
• Analyzes reports for accuracy prior to distribution.
• Supervises the collection and formatting of financial data for special management studies and requests. Provides financial data with explanations and interpretation as requested by management.
• Coordinates the development and maintenance of automated systems and procedures.
• Provides direction and input for the development of accounting applications, reports, forms, records, and documented procedures.
• Examines and evaluates internal methods and procedures for adequacy of controls.
• Ensures departmental compliance with all applicable policies and procedures.
• Serves as a resource for funding agencies or other organizations to provide requested or required financial information and reports.
• Clarifies or researches issues as necessary.
• Assist with management of accounting, auditing, and budgeting within the organization and preparation for audit.
• Establishes and maintains an appropriate network of professional contacts.
• Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.

Job Qualifications

• Minimum Education: Bachelor’s degree in accounting
• Minimum Experience: 7 Years
• Field of Expertise: Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles including cost accounting.
• Knowledge of Joint Venture accounting or accounting for multiple related legal entities is preferred.
