JOB DESCRIPTION

JOB TITLE: Pre-press Supervisor DEPARTMENT: Pre-Press

REPORTS TO: Plant Manager PAY SCALE: Salary

Essential Functions:

• Responsible for the Pre-Press Department, including four hourly employees: Pre-Press Coordinator Assistant, the Prepress Lead, and two Prepress Associates.
• Provide Customer Service Associates with product routing and final files and costs associated with tooling and other preproduction information needed to generate an order.
• Utilize the Artios CAD program to access and generate quote specifications, and to generate production masters and other files for purchasing tooling.

Oversee Pre-Press Coordinator Assistant Duties:

• Perform all Prepress purchasing duties and responsibilities.
• Get tooling quotes and provide CSR/Customer with quotes via email.
• Process tooling P.O.’s
• Utilize Excel spreadsheets – receiving log entries, tooling orders log, etc.
• Match up tooling receiving packing slips with P.O.’s and submit to Accounting Department.
• Communicate with tooling vendors daily, coordinating purchases and establishing delivery dates.
• Assist Customer Service Associates by providing them with final files and costs associated with tooling and other preproduction information needed to generate an order.
• Train and understand the Artios CAD program to access and generate quote specifications and all final documents.

Oversee Pre-Operator and Die-Mounter Duties:

• Order Preparation– Must be able to review MFG order for completion and accuracy along with spec. and print cards. Must make sure all information required to run an order is provided to production. Must be able to gather all required tooling and supplies - - cutting die, print plate, ink, etc. and prepare that tooling - - inspect for condition, matrix if needed, and dispensing of ink to stage an order to run in printing department.
• New Tooling Inspection – Must be able to take available information - - factory order, spec., print card, and inspect new tooling to ensure it is designed and manufactured correctly to run productively in printing department.
• Must learn and understand concepts of color theory and color management and control on press. Sound understanding of ink dispensing and color matching.
• Upon Completion of Training – Employee will be required to work at least one a day a week in prepress on the production floor to continue to develop thorough understanding of processes and technical knowledge. This knowledge will be critical in performing clerical duties in the office.

  Qualifications/Requirements:
• Learn and follow all safety rules
• Work with Design, Sales, Customer Service, Costing, Production, and other Pre-Production personnel as required.
• Working knowledge of Artios CAD, Amtech, New Biz, Adobe Acrobat/Illustrator, BOX, Microsoft Excel. Willingness to learn other computer systems as required.
• Knowledge of production equipment and machine capabilities.
• Perform all other duties as assigned by supervisor.
