JOB TITLE: Business Unit Generalist EFFECTIVE DATE: 7/2/2022

REPORTS TO: Employment Manager EXEMPT

Position Summary:

The Clubhouse Business Unit Generalist is responsible for the support and engagement of members in all aspects of unit and clubhouse operations, according to Clubhouse International philosophy. The position is responsible for professionally interfacing with members, supporting member integration and progress, and building and maintaining relationships with community partners. In collaboration with other staff and members, the Generalist will assist Clubhouse members with participation in meaningful work and building meaningful relationships. With the primary objective of assisting members in developing and attaining specific employment, vocational, educational, housing, and/or social goals. The generalist will act as an advocate for the member with social service agencies and other entities. All Clubhouse staff share employment, housing, evening/weekend/holiday, and other unit responsibilities.

Core duties and responsibilities include the following:

  • Provide leadership and guidance to Clubhouse members in a positive manner consistent with the mission, vision, and values of HOPE Clubhouse.
  • Ensures and always maintains confidentiality.
  • Conduct Intake interviews with potential members and determine eligibility for participation in HOPE Clubhouse.
  • Assess member needs and develops an individual service plan for short- and long-term goals including education/job training, support services, and resources for greater self-determination.
  • Conduct case management with assigned members at least once a month via home, in office, or virtual sessions.
  • Documents all case management activities to include any direct assistance or referred services.
  • Monitor members' success in accessing and obtaining referred services in a consistent and timely manner.
  • Maintain client files and all relative paperwork in a correct and orderly manner.
  • Submit all necessary reports in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Work cooperatively with the Employment Director to establish and implement unit goals for the Work-Ordered Day component at HOPE Clubhouse consistent with the needs of persons with mental illnesses, supporting member engagement in unit tasks.
  • Lead and work alongside members on tasks in the Business or other units.
  • Provides job training, placement, and coverage on Transitional Employment job positions, as determined by Employment Director.
  • Leads, attends, and/or participates in morning meetings, house meetings, and unit meetings.
  • Participate in International Clubhouse Colleague Training in the Clubhouse Model, as decided by Clubhouse leadership.
  • Demonstrates openness and flexibility in adapting to organizational changes.
  • Meet all agency, program, contract, and grant policies, reporting schedules, and budgets.
  • Participates in activities both within HOPE Clubhouse and the community to increase awareness about the Clubhouse and build community relationships.
  • Work cooperatively with Clubhouse staff and members to establish and implement unit goals for the Culinary portion of the Work-Ordered Day component at HOPE Clubhouse consistent with the needs of persons with mental illnesses, supporting member engagement in unit tasks.
  • ·Develop and publish the monthly lunch menu with member assistance.
  • Identify, order, and maintain adequate food supplies for designated menu and/or alternatives within the allocated food budget.
  • Lead, supervise, collaborate and work alongside members on tasks in the Culinary Unit inside the professional kitchen.
  • Facilitate Culinary unit meetings, projects, and special meals as required.
  • Maintain all grounds, gardens, sprinklers, well, irrigation, and hydroponics systems.
  • Care for and cultivate vegetation including planting, fertilizing, weeding, watering, trimming, soil conditioning, mulching, and applying pest control methods.
  • Identify, order, and maintain adequate garden supplies and equipment within budget.
  • Ensure all outdoor areas, including pathways, are safe.
  • Prepare outdoor areas for various weather conditions by weatherproofing, covering, tarping, or tying down unsecured items.
  • Operate and maintain garden and landscape equipment.
  • Operate and maintain company vehicles.
  • Identify, price, and schedule specialty services pertaining to outdoor space.
  • Lead and work alongside members on tasks in the Horticulture Unit and other areas maintained by HOPE Clubhouse.
  • Facilitate Horticulture Unit meetings, projects, and special projects as required.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Members, volunteers, students, or interns

QUALIFICATIONS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university and a minimum of 1-year experience working in a social service agency with individuals with mental illness preferred. Other equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine correspondence, reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to speak effectively before groups of members or employees of other organizations. Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumferences, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic accounting.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

COMPUTER SKILLS:

“Microsoft Office”, database software, internet navigation, remote delivery (Zoom, Skype, etc.), and basic office equipment skills required; Digital Design experience (ex: publisher or Canva) preferred.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Ability to stand/walk/sit/use hands to finger, handle or feel/reach with hands and arms/climb or balance/stoop, kneel, crouch, and ability to lift up to 25 pounds. No special vision requirements.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (Certificates, Licenses, Skills, Special Machines):

Must have dependable transportation, valid Driver’s License, and Insurance, a clean driving record, and be able to pass a level 2 background check.
