Position Title: Executive Director

Reports To: Board Chair and Board of Directors

General Function: The Executive Director works in partnership with the Board of Directors and the staff to provide leadership, vision, and direction for the organization and to develop organizational strategy. The Executive Director manages the organization's programs and operations and represents the organization publicly.

Essential Functions: The person in this position must be an effective manager, have excellent communication skills (verbal and written), think strategically, and relate well with people of diverse ages, races, and income levels. Financial management, grant writing and fund development experience is necessary. The Individual must maintain effective working relationships with staff members, volunteers, Board members and the general public.

Qualifications and Experience: Bachelor's degree preferred; Associate's degree or post-graduate course work that demonstrates applied knowledge in a field compatible to the mission and work of the organization (management, public administration, public health, social work, other) will also be considered. Three to five years of professional experience, preferably in non-profit management, is required.

Salary range between $57,000 - $60,000

Principle Activities:

1. Recruit, train, and evaluate all full and part-time staff employed with HOPE.

2. Maintain organizational structure that supports the efficient delivery of services.

3. Ensure that an active and diverse volunteer base is continually recruited, developed, and maintained.

4. Facilitate the development of a strategic plan and coordinate implementation; regularly assess and strengthen the plan as needed.

5. Support the Board in recruiting, developing, and maintaining an active Board of Directors sufficient to provide strategic oversight and support to organizational and operational activities.

6. Assess local needs and opportunities and monitor published research to identify evidence- based practices for implementation.

7. Maintain a focus on the visibility, credibility and sustainability of the organization by pursuing appropriate opportunities for partnership and funding that serve to advance the organization's mission.

8. Oversee fiscal aspects of the organization. Maintain transparency of all financial records in cooperation with the organization's Bookkeeper and Treasurer.

9. Oversee development and implementation of funding activities.

10. Monitor and ensure that all contract and grant requirements, deliverables and reports occur on schedule.

11. Oversee adherence to organizational by-laws, policies and procedures. Keep the by-laws, employee handbooks, and financial manuals updated after any changes are made by the Board.

12. All of the above stated materials are to be made current on an annual basis. These updated items are to be copied and provided to ALL Board members at the January board meeting the following year. Also, all current copies of these items are to be properly filed (preferably one file for each manual) so that they can be accessed when needed to confirm a Board vote.

13. Oversee the development and implementation of an organizational strategy to include advocacy campaigns, press conferences, websites, social media and outreach to clients via informal avenues.

14. Develop community partnerships and alliances with other non-profit and governmental organizations to better meet the needs of clients.

15. Prepare and submit grant proposals in a timely manner to secure adequate funds for the operation of HOPE.

16. Oversee the decision processes of review and verification of client requests for assistance as submitted by the interviewers.

17. Oversee the planning and directing of Volunteer Appreciation activities.

18. Prepare and submit the Executive Director's report at Board Meetings.

19. Respond to Board requests in a timely manner and keep office staff informed of Board decisions.

20. Act as spokesperson for HOPE at church and civic functions.

21. Prepare and submit the annual report (with the guidance of the Treasurer, Finance Committee and/or Board Chair).

22. Administer the annual operating budget as approved by the Board of Directors.

23. Keep informed of all federal, state, and local regulations as they impact HOPE.

24. Other duties as deemed necessary and appropriate for an administrator but not limited to the duties listed above.
