Hopkins School is seeking a dedicated and experienced Head Varsity Boys Basketball Coach to join our vibrant school community. This role is responsible for all aspects of the basketball program, including coaching, mentoring student-athletes, and fostering sportsmanship both on and off the court. The head coach will oversee skill development, practice planning, and game management throughout the season.
**Key Responsibilities:**
- Coach and mentor student-athletes, promoting their development in basketball and sportsmanship.
- Prepare athletes for competition, emphasizing the importance of leadership, responsibility, and respect.
- Plan and execute effective practice sessions and game strategies.
- Manage all aspects of game day operations.
- Explore and create opportunities to host camps and clinics to foster community engagement and attract young student-athletes.
- Develop and maintain a strong team culture aligned with the school's mission.
- Provide guidance and direction to sub-varsity teams as needed.
- Travel with the team for away games.
- Participate in special events such as post-season league and New England tournaments, Admission Fall Open House, and Spring Admitted Student Events.
**Qualifications:**
- Previous playing and coaching experience at the college, high school, or club level.
- Thorough knowledge of basketball rules and regulations.
- Strong leadership skills and the ability to cultivate a positive team environment.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Commitment to the values and mission of Hopkins School.
**Schedule:**
- Season runs from mid-November to late-February.
- Practices:
- Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday: 3:45 PM - 5:30 PM
- Wednesday: Practice follows school dismissal at 1:30 PM
- Typically two games per week.
- Additional hours required for post-season tournaments and special school events.
