Horace Mann is Hiring an Information Technology Asset Management Analyst Near Springfield, IL

This position is onsite in the Springfield, IL office.
The IT Asset Management Analyst will support the ITAM lifecycle charter and the company's efforts to effectively manage the life cycle of hardware and software resources and expense, and ensure the company is in compliance with all software contracts. In executing this position's accountabilities, the incumbent must effectively partner and work with several areas within IT and Procurement.
  • Reports to IT Manager. No direct reports.
  • Work and accountabilities of this position play a supporting role in the effective management of the company's software and hardware assets and ensure compliance with. software vendor contracts.
  • The IT Division's annual operating expense for software, and for hardware. The company also has over 200 software vendor contracts.
  • Works with various IT department Team, and Procurement, to present and analyze software installation information and support responses to vendor audits.
  • Communicates effectively with other internal organization teams.Knowledge of the use of business intelligence tools including Excel, Access, SQL, and SSRS.
  • Strong level of initiative and development of process improvement solutions while working towards business goals.
  • Independent judgment and discretion in handling confidential information involving contracts and audits.
Challenges:
  • Analyze for the IT Manager the software contracts, terms, and conditions.
  • Creation of SQL data queries, data mining. Diagnosis and resolving data base query disjoint sets in coordination with other technical team members.
  • Gaining efficient skills and knowledge of Ticketing Platform programming tools, debugging skills, and the related environmental dependencies across multiple systems and applications.
  • Analysis of basic and moderately detailed software installation reports and the creation of action plans to reinitiate issues.
  • Customer service in an environment of competing priorities.
  • Problem identification and resolution in a fast paced, sensitive environment.
  • Persistence in tracking down details of software contractual entitlements and purchase records.
  • Ineffective hardware/software controls can result in large amounts of wasteful spending and inefficient and outdated resources being used by employees.
  • When discovered by a vendor, software contract violations can result in substantial fines and penalties, embarrassing media coverage, civil and criminal charges, damage to our company's reputation, and additional audits by other vendors.
Principal Accountabilities:
  • Analyze and interpret basic software contracts for determination of entitlement and usage restrictions.
  • Review software installation requests and conduct independent contract and installation analysis in order to respond to software installation requests for physical and virtual servers and PCs throughout all of Horace Mann.
  • Assist the IT Manager with technical support for Procurement and Audit for software compliance reviews.
  • Interact with all areas of IT to review software options and suggest solutions for specialized software needs, uses, and entitlement.
  • Create and maintain a library of routine SQL database queries.
  • Assist with Ticketing Platform upgrades, testing, and debugging processes.
  • Provides basic Ticketing Platform Ad Hoc analysis of software and hardware installations.
  • Thorough understanding of technical aspects of servers and PCs.
  • Provides professional and effective written and verbal communication of findings to management, customers, and co-suppliers.
    Job Requirements:
  • College degree in Computer Science/Information Systems or related field, or combination of professional experience and college courses required.
  • Experience in using business intelligence tools including Excel, Access, and SQL.
  • Technical certifications in operating systems, networks, Microsoft, database or programming languages a plus
  • One year of demonstrated customer service experience required Experience with contract interpretation or management a plus.
  • Hardware or Software Asset Manager certification a plus
  • Basic practical knowledge of, and technical understanding of, IT hardware [physical and virtual servers and PCs, routers, switches, etc.].
  • Technical skills capable of completing routine programming assignments, including some maintenance and customization of Ticketing Platform.
  • Introductory level technical skills in testing and debugging applications and upgrades to applications.
  • Introductory level technical skills in constructing database queries in SQL.
  • Ability to review and interpret basic software contracts as part of entitlement reconciliation and make decisions regarding software installations.
  • Knowledge of the use of Customer Service Desk software applications [ i.e. "Ivanti"].
  • Ability to prioritize service issues based on personal judgment and experience.
  • Ability to make decisions necessary to respond to basic software contract entitlement requests in sensitive environments.
  • Ability to work with various levels of management and support staff to independently recognize and solve problems.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Exhibits initiative, identifies what needs to be done and suggests plans to achieve result.
  • Independent problem-solving ability.
  • Ability to think and work independently.
