Job Overview

Responsibilities include oversight of the Bank's enterprise level financial planning, including budgeting, forecasting, management and performance reporting, and modeling. Provide financial expertise and partnership to the Company's executive team and line of business leadership used in decision-making and planning. Prepare and interpret real-time and periodic internal financial reporting, and provide thoughtful, actionable analysis to drive the financial success of the Company.

Principal Accountabilities

Accountable for the compilation, review and distribution of enterprise-wide internal financial reporting. Prepare financial models and detailed analysis regarding budgeting and forecasting and develop action items to achieve business goals. Provide financial expertise and partnership for potential whole-bank acquisitions and other corporate activities, such as financial analysis, model creation, and other support services needed.

Represent the Bank to both internal and external customers in a courteous, professional manner in face-to-face, written and telephone communications.Accountable for adherence to compliance standards including Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), as well as quality of documentation and timeliness of assigned projects. Actively protect confidentiality of customer and account information. Demonstrate Horizon Bank's commitment to the communities we serve through active involvement in local organizations and events.

Duties
  • Provide FP&A support to executive management and business unit leaders related to profitability, balance sheet and income statement trending, budget planning, and internal reporting.
  • Analyze, advise and research variances to forecast, budget, and prior period actuals, and proactively identifying opportunities for improvement.
  • Proactively identify and understand business challenges; propose and develop solutions.
  • Partner directly with executive management and business unit leaders to collaborate on metrics, goals, and business reviews.
  • Work on corporate projects and initiatives that impact the entire organization.
  • Create presentations that provide insightful analysis, identify required action items, and effectively frame decisions to be made.
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with business partners and cross-functional teams at all levels of the organization.
  • Serve as a liaison for the investor relations team, managing the earnings guidance scenario modeling, including executive presentation, Q&A support, and ad hoc analysis.
Personnel Management
  • Participate in recruitment efforts and partner with Human Resources to recruit, hire, retain and develop a talented and diverse workforce.
  • Provide training for new hires and in conjunction with performance and developmental needs.
  • Monitor behavior and results to effectively coach and motivate team members to achieve service and sales goals, including periodic review of recorded interactions.
  • Prepare and conduct scheduled performance evaluations. Address and document performance issues.
  • Schedule employees, manage time off requests and approve weekly timecards.
  • Responsible for building and developing a successful team as well as staff retention. Involve staff in planning, decision-making and process improvement.
  • Responsible for encouraging continuous enhancement of subordinates' knowledge and competencies to foster their successful career advancement.
Qualifications & Skills
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting or Business Administration with 8 or more years of relevant banking experience, including 2 year of managerial experience.
  • Advanced degree, such as an MBA, CPA or a CFA charterholder preferred.
  • General knowledge of accounting/financial/operational principles.
  • Experience with enterprise planning tools preferred.
  • Experience developing financial reports and metrics.
  • Interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to interact with various management levels.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and adapt to a changing, fast-paced environment.
  • Strong Excel, Word, and PowerPoint skills.
  • Superior attention to detail and ability to successfully manage multiple competing priorities while maintaining a view of the big picture.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence others through effective verbal and written communication.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive projects across an organization.
