Horizon Eye Care is Hiring a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Near Charlotte, NC

Job SummaryThe Chief Financial Officer is a key member of the Horizon executive team, responsible for managing the financial operations of our organization, through the administration of financial policies, procedures, controls and reporting systems. This position ensures legal and regulatory compliance for all accounting and financial reporting functions. The CFO is responsible for accounting, accounts receivable/collection and payroll and risk management and collaborating with the COO, Governing Board, and Shareholders to develop and implement strategy for the future of the company. This is a fractional position, requiring 24 hours of labor per week, with 16 of those onsite in our Cotswold location.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
  • Prepares monthly financial packages along with variance explanations; presents to Governing Board and Shareholders.
  • Prepares quarterly true-up documents and analyses.
  • Serves as the liaison for external banking and financial/accounting firms.
  • Prepares annual budgets.
  • Ensures appropriate internal controls of company are established and followed.
  • Ensures physicians are compensated according to their contracts.
  • Prepares analysis and presents information on special projects at direction of Board/Shareholders.
  • Reports to the COO.
  • Recommends to and collaborates with COO and the Governing Board regarding company-wide economic strategies, objectives, and policies.
  • Supports COO and Governing Board by preparing financial analysis of potential market growth areas/locations, physician capacity planning, M&A opportunities, co-management opportunities, etc.
  • Arranges for, and oversees, the annual company financial review and annual tax preparation with a 3rd party accounting firm.
  • Works closely Director of Revenue Cycle, Controller, and Purchasing but does not have a reporting relationship with any of them.
Position Requirements
  • Previous CFO Experience.
  • Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • CPA Certification strongly preferred.
  • Healthcare or physician group experience strongly preferred.
  • PT position, at 24 hours per week but with 16 of those hours being onsite.
  • Attend occasional after-hours meetings, roughly 50% of those are in person.
  • Strong computer and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated initiative and ability to perform duties with minimal supervision
