The Lead Direct Support Professional ensures the health, safety and well-being of residential participants living in their homes through proper supervision. The Lead DSP will perform additional responsibilities including but not limited to menu planning with members; distribution of member funds; weekly and monthly reporting/paperwork, and mentor/support new DSPs. The Lead DSP will be expected to work one weekend day per week. This position is a safety sensitive position that includes tasks or duties (i.e., driving) that the employer in good faith believes could affect the safety, health or reputation of the Agency, participants, the employee performing the task or others.

Qualifications Required

• High School Diploma or GED
• Minimum 1 year experience in the habilitation or rehabilitation field.
• 21 years of age or older and working knowledge of English.
• Possess a valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record, MVD report and reliable transportation.
• Prepare required paperwork to support and document activities in the contractually required timelines.
• Ability to type and working knowledge/familiarity with computers and electronic clinical record keeping.
• Obtain and pass posttests for First Aid, CPR, Article 9, and Prevention and Support Certification, and Medication Management.
• Maintain confidentiality.
• Able to operate independently.
• Respectful of participants and staff.
• Must obtain and maintain a level one fingerprint clearance card and clear AZ Central Registry and Arizona Adult Protective Services Registry Screening check.
• Successful clearance through standard background check prior to hire.
• Willingness to work nights, weekends, and holidays.

Mental and Emotional

• Must be fully ambulatory and able to assist participants.
• Able to demonstrate competency working with participants of all ages in the following areas:
  • Manual dexterity to keep documentation records.
  • Able to visually and auditory monitor participants.
  • Know and able to perform techniques to prevent behavior harmful to the participant or others.
  • Provide behavior management in crisis situations.
  • Assess potential crisis situations and call for assistance if needed.

Qualifications Preferred

• Bilingual English/Spanish or English/Sign Language.
• Two years of experience working in an integration program assisting persons with developmental and/or psychiatric disabilities.
• Strong interpersonal skills.
