Sr. IT Project Manager reports directly to the Sr. Manager, PMO. Position is responsible for the planning, execution and evaluation of projects according to predetermined timelines, budgets and customer custom project requirements. This role acts as a liaison between the business and technical teams to develop, design and create project requirements. Projects may include software, hardware and infrastructure components. Provides support to the release manager/trainer, business analysis/product specialists, DevOps/IT and additional cross-functional stakeholders. This role will be primarily focused on U.S. Government related projects and will require U.S. security clearance.
A day in the life:
  • 60% GovCloud migration, 40% working with IT management/IT resources for day to day project execution.
  • Day to day works with IT managers to organize and conduct resource planning for IT resources to implement technical projects including the migration from on-prem infrastructure to GovCloud.
  • Sets and tracks project milestones; manages and accounts for unforeseen delays, then realigns schedules and expectations as needed.
  • Work with the IT Infrastructure team to drive work and accountability of milestones.
  • Communicate to Sr Leaders both internally and externally with the Veterans Affairs.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Develops and manages all facets of the project(s) from intake through implementation and closure.
  • Accountable for the successful implementation of the outcomes derived through the change through effective organization and leadership, stakeholder management, risk management and issue resolution, planning and control, change management and quality management.
  • Ensures the project adheres to all Corporate and IT policies and standards.
  • Responsible for effectively managing the constraints and risks of project management: Scope, Cost, Schedule, Quality.
  • Creates & maintains project plans which include milestone tasks, dependencies, task owners and overall schedule.
  • Maintains a release repository and manages key information such as project management procedures, dependencies, and notification lists.
  • Coordinates all project meetings including routine stand ups, business reviews and training to designated business users.
  • Responsible for the completion of all relevant documentation to meet Quality and Regulatory requirements.
  • Participates release readiness reviews and Business Go/No-Go reviews.
  • Participates in the Go-Live activities including the execution of the deployment plans and checklists.
  • Continually work towards making improvements in the project management process.
  • Provides technical and analytical guidance and recommendations to leadership governance bodies.
  • Keeps current on advances and best practices in project management methodologies.
  • Advanced written and verbal communication skills are a must
  • Communicates as necessary with customers and customer technical teams to ensure transparency of project execution and completion.
  • Other related duties as assigned
EDUCATION REQUIRED:
  • 4-year degree in business related field
YEARS OF EXPERIENCE:
  • 5 years of previous project management experience
  • 3 years of experience in information systems environment and/or system analysis or development
DESIRED/PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Formal training in project management practices
  • PMP Certification
  • Previous experience with large-scale IT Infrastructure related project management
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate and drive cross-functional work teams toward project and task completion
  • Demonstrated effective leadership and analytical skills
  • Advanced proficiency with relevant project management tools such as & including Jira, MS Office, Helix ALM and Asana
NICE TO HAVE:
  • Previous experience working on projects within U.S. Government entities such as Department of Defense and Department of Veteran Affairs
