General Job Description

GENERAL SUMMARY: The Landside Operations Coordinator is responsible for the overall management of Myrtle Beach International Airport landside areas, services, and user experience. This role ensures the strict compliance of all landside activities, users, and commercial services with all governing rules, agreements, operating protocols, and established service level standards. The Landside Operations Coordinator plays an active role in monitoring, interpreting, reporting, and acting on specific landside operating conditions that are critical in maintaining mission and business continuity and will maintain effective oversight of all pre-security areas throughout the airport.

Duties for this Position
  • ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: o Manages landside operational areas, activities, and associated agreements for parking lots, roadways, equipment and signage, airline terminal curbside areas, passenger and commercial vehicle operators, rental car areas, and the overall landside user experience. o Accounts for and inspects commercial operators, and passenger services for compliance with established standards, service levels, and agreement terms. o Provides active management of commercial ground transportation service providers and their designated operating areas. o Monitors airline terminal passenger pick up/drop off areas, delivery zones, and vehicle roadways to reduce congestion and ensure effective and compliant use of these areas. o Overall responsibility for passenger curb security personnel performance. Review and approve monthly billing for services. o Provides notice, education, and/or enacts prescribed or recommended enforcement actions for non-compliant activities in assigned areas. o Ensures that appropriate levels of facility access, parking, and ground transportation services are available, maintained, and/or temporarily adjusted based on known or forecasted passenger activity levels. o Maintains positive, effective, and efficient landside customer access and user experience. o Provides courteous and knowledgeable service to customers and commercial operators with a positive attitude and professional appearance. o Works with various Departments and staff to resolve issues. o Consults with leadership to propose and/or develop improvements to landside operations, and policies. o Independently and/or through effective partnership with staff, tenants, and commercial operators, develops and deploys strategies to effectively manage seasonal, unanticipated, or irregular facilities demands. o Participates in product and service procurement related to assigned areas. o Develops, maintains, submits activity reports that establishes metric data which is used to support operational decision making. o Establishes and maintains effective relationships with staff, leadership, tenants, and stakeholders. o Acts as a key member of the Airport’s Safety Management Team. o Assists with continued development of the Airport’s Safety Management System (SMS)/Safety Management Program. o Evaluates the continued effectiveness of safety strategies. Assists with optimizing emerging safety trends, practices and standards. o Tracks, monitors, and files all airport workman’s compensation claims. o Files, monitors, and administers all tort claims directly with IRF in coordination with Horry County’s Risk Management Division. o Responsible for monitoring, filing, and administering property damage claims, weather-related damage claims, any injury reporting outside of a normal tort claim and all loss claims. o Files, monitors, and administers all aviation related claims through the air carrier. o Responsible for the claims process for its entire duration, which may include court appearances and depositions. o Supports other Departments as may be necessary or required under routine and non-routine circumstances. o Will be required to be available for the support of after-hours requirements working nights, weekends, and holidays.
Position Minimum Requirements
  • QUALIFICATIONS: Graduation from accredited high school or general education degree (GED). At least five years of demonstrated operational or management experience in one or more of the following areas: parking facilities, commercial ground transportation services, airport landside operations, airport operations, or closely related field. Candidate must pass a background check without indication of possible aviation security risk as required by the transportation security administration, valid SC motor vehicle operator’s license, and meet pre-employment drug screening requirements. Moderate to heavy physical activity as needed to move, transport and position objects. Occasional strenuous physical activity may be required due to various tasks in emergency situations.
