HORTIFRUT is Hiring a North America Director of Operations Near Miami, FL

Position Purpose

To direct and oversee operations of the company assuring delivery of the Hortifrut products with world class execution and adding value to all stakeholders (partners, growers, sales team, customers, and consumers). Operational functions to includes all modes of transportation, air, ocean, intermodal, and truck, LTL, TL, foreign trade zones, customs compliance, cold chain management, distribution centers, grower relations, farm to fork supply management, inventory management, shipping, packaging protocols and business decision systems.

Organizational Relationships

· Supervisor: Reports directly to the HFI CEO, and dotted technical line with Corp

· Subordinates: Director of Operations, Warehouse Managers, Food Safety/Quality Assurance Manager; Growers Reporting Manager, Transportation Manager 

Responsibilities and Key Duties

  • Manages organization operations by directing and coordinating activities consistent with established goals, objectives, and policies, implementing programs to ensure attainment of tactical and strategic plans for growth and profit.
  • Responsible for the developing, documenting, and executing a comprehensive operations, transportation and distribution center strategic and tactical plan which will drive optimal customer service and profitability.
  • Manage and optimize a cold chain and supply chain operations network with multiple distribution centers.
  • Ensure all regulatory and compliance measures are met within US guidelines.
  • Identify and implement best in class SAP WMS technology, TMS, Materials Management, Inventory Management systems infrastructure suitable to the scope and size of the business along with disciplines that underlie each supply chain operation.

· Support the company’s long-term vision of a strategic platform environment (SAP, IBP, BI, Collaboration, etc.).

  • Develop implementation of operations best practices such as systems integration and optimization, inventory control, demand planning, and SKU optimization.
  • Drive operational excellence and best practices across the network reducing measurable cost each year.
  • Communicate with the transportation department, delivered sales and the forward distribution centers for effective value added operations achieving target service level, innovating to improve customer satisfaction and improve grower returns.
  • Establishes and manages standards for distribution centers and contact distribution centers as needed.
  • Foster and develop a strong continuous process improvement culture across all supply chain departments.
  • Member of Crisis Management Team
  • Provides effective communication and coordination with partner/growers’ operations departments
  • Assist with the annual budget and is responsible for continual tracking of budget related information.

Qualifications and Skills Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, food systems, or similar field.
  • Postgraduate degree in Supply Chain, Transport or similar is highly valued
  • 5-10 years’ experience in supply chain, operations or logistics management, management of teams of no less than ten people, and to include five years in highly perishable products.
  • Evidence of commitment to customer service and customer satisfaction in product and systems.
  • Valuable experience in industrial environment, with a global knowledge of the supply chain (warehouses, transportation, planning and sales, distribution)
  • Knowledge and experience using technology to deliver high level of real time information to all stakeholders to include the sales department, distribution centers and customers.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with working knowledge of Spanish extremely valuable.
  • Excellent communication and organization skills, persuasive, and leadership of diverse characters.
  • Must be bilingual English /Spanish

Location: Miami FL; Oxnard CA area is an alternative location option.
