Job Description
SUMMARY
Under general supervision, performs a wide variety of assembly/fabrication/production and/or operator tasks. Sets up equipment and assists lower-level production workers in the set-up and operation of machinery and equipment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Operates all relevant machinery, tools, and equipment; undertakes standard and complex production tasks in accordance with instructions.
  • Determines and selects raw materials and parts required to prepare for the production process.
  • Set ups or adjusts equipment according to manufacturing specifications. Performs "first piece" inspections during the assembly and/or fabrication process to identify quality issues, missing parts, or problems that require re-work.
  • Ensures that equipment is always operational and performs minor troubleshooting and maintenance of equipment.
  • Monitors production for quality and adjusts machines or processes to correct problems.
  • Ensures operational safety requirements are always met.
  • Fills-in in for absent employees and/or assists new employees as needed.
  • Provides instructions and guidance to other employees regarding work assignments and problems regarding materials or production equipment.
  • Maintains daily production records regarding damaged goods, defects, scrap, parts shortages, and overages so that manufacturing performance can be analyzed.

EDUCATION EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or GED and a minimum of four years of progressively difficult assembly/fabrication experience.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS
  • Requires knowledge of manufacturing equipment, machinery, and operations.
  • Ability to operate a variety of production machines and equipment.
  • Ability to perform minor troubleshooting and maintenance of production machines and equipment.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to read blueprints, technical manuals, and use measuring equipment.
  • Displays characteristics of being motivated and a self-starter.
  • Basic knowledge of pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
Ability to multitask and change priorities at a moment's notice.
PHYSCIAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Stand for extended periods of time
  • Walk for extended periods of time.
  • Maintain balance to prevent falling.
  • Hold arms and hands in one position for extended periods of time.
  • Use hands and fingers to move and assemble small parts.
  • Repetitive motions of body parts.
  • Coordinated use of hands and feet to operate equipment.
  • Carry or move materials and equipment weighing up to 51 lbs. Lift objects of various weights in different directions.
  • Ascend and descend ladders, stairs, and work platforms.
  • Operate manual and powered hand tools (e.g., pneumatic rivet and staple guns; drills; drivers; and foaming guns).
  • Operate powered industrial trucks and equipment (e.g., lifts, pallet jacks, and aerial platforms).
  • Operate machinery (e.g., press brakes, refrigerant charging stations, and hoists).
  • Frequent manual labor that includes bending, stooping, crouching, reaching, pushing, and pulling.
  • Squat and kneel to access materials and equipment in tight or enclosed spaces. Occasionally crawl to access equipment.
  • Handle chemicals.
  • Close visual acuity to perform activities such as: viewing a computer terminal; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation of machines (including inspection); using measurement devices; and/or assembly or fabrication of parts at distances close to the eyes.
  • Communicate with others to exchange information.
  • When travel is required, visual acuity to operate motor vehicle in daytime and nighttime.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
  • Works in manufacturing, warehouse, and/or supporting areas. Worker must be aware of and exercise caution around hazardous conditions such as electricity, moving equipment, moving parts, refrigerants, chemicals, torches, solvents, dust, dirt, fumes, and contaminants.
  • Indoor and outdoor work tasks subject worker to indoor and outdoor environmental conditions. Outdoor environmental conditions could include heat and cold; precipitation; wind; and sunlight.
  • Exposure to vibrations and moderate-to-loud noises.
Use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required of the job and work area. PPE includes but is not limited to safety glasses, safety googles, face shields, welding shields, protective welding clothing, safety toed footwear, hearing protection, gloves, aprons, protective sleeves, hard hats, safety harnesses, and respiratory protection.
