Summary Sets up, operates, and maintains audio/visual equipment as required for facilities’ activities by performing the following duties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities There are four main roles included in A/V work: audio technician, lighting designer, spotlight operator, and stage manager. These roles are expected to be rotated between all A/V staff often. Other duties may be assigned.
Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Must be able to work nights, weekends, and holidays, with no exceptions; schedules will be based upon the frequency of events and are subject to change. Must be flexible and willing to change at a moment's notice. Maintain a positive attitude.
Education and/or Experience: High School degree or equivalent; six months to one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Requires knowledge of audio and lighting systems. Computer literacy is required.
Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as technical riders, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. Requires excellent public relation skills in dealing with artists and presenters.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply good judgment and common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. Must be able to climb ladders and use catwalks as well as stoop, bend and crawl. Must be able to work at heights of more than 30 feet with safety harness (provided). The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Job requires much walking, long periods of sitting or standing, speaking coherently, comprehensive hearing and reading capabilities, clear vision at all distances and accurate color vision.
