Hot Springs Village Property Owners Assoc is Hiring a Wastewater System Plant Operator IV Near Hot Springs, AR

SUMMARY

Under minimal supervision of the Chief Plant Operator, performs any duties required to operate and maintain the sewer pumping stations, sewer treatment plants, metering stations and participates in related tasks as needed. Assists in sewer operations and maintenance, solid waste operations, and other duties as assigned.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
include the following:

  • Responsible for properly operating and maintaining plant pump stations, treatment plants, metering stations, and equalization basins.
  • Performs repairs on pumps, motors, plant facilities, and related equipment.
  • Ability to be on call duty, work overtime, weekends, and Holidays, both scheduled and unscheduled as required.
  • Performs and/or assists in performing laboratory analysis, sampling, monitoring, calculations, and calibration. record readings performs general duties such as painting, cleaning, and general maintenance.
  • Performs basic computer operations per SCADA operations and record keeping.
  • Coordinate as needed and assist coworkers to perform necessary functions. May be required to locate, order, and purchase parts/supplies needed to maintain operations.
  • Perform related tasks as assigned by the Chief Plant Operator or his delegated representative, Water/Wastewater Superintendent.
  • Represent the POA and Public Utilities Department before the public, communicate with the general public and coworkers in polite and efficient manner and maintain a program of public relations as may keep the public informed as to the activities being performed, assist customers with questions or problems and service interruptions.
  • Responsible for operating in accordance with Local, State, Federal Regulations, and POA Policies and Procedures. Insure proper operating levels and Compliance with NPDES permit parameters.
  • Follow safety compliance policies and procedures and assist coworkers relating to overall job safety compliance.
  • Responsible for follow up of actions and ongoing personal development.
  • May be required to train, mentor, advise, and assist other operators and fill in absence of Chief Plant Operator. Responsible for the proper operation and maintenance of plant wastewater pump stations, treatment plants, metering stations, tanks, and related record keeping, budgeting, personnel, vehicles, tools, equipment, facilities, and property.
  • Required to work after hours and weekends when necessary.
  • Responsible for inventory and inventory maintenance for plant crew, including parts and related tools and equipment. May be required to locate, order, and purchase parts/supplies needed to maintain operations.
  • Perform rounds on all shifts, make sure all parts of the Plant are functioning properly.
  • Keep state reports current.
  • Know the system being served by plant.
  • Ensure that lab analysis is completed as applicable.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Regular attendance is required.


QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Must be able to work in adverse weather conditions and work nights, weekends and holidays if needed.

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must have a telephone and be available for emergency call out.
  • Must have transportation to and from work.


EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
  • Courses in Wastewater related operations, maintenance, and technology, mechanical ability, and a desire to learn.
  • Must have a minimum of six (6) years’ experience in public Wastewater
  • Training and/or experience in Water/Wastewater/Safety/Compliance.
  • Experience in operating and maintaining related vehicles, equipment, and tools.
  • Training and/or experience in confined space entry procedures and requirements.


LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.


MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Math skills to include the ability to use formulas related to volumes, areas, percent, dosages and time. Ability to use American weight measurement as well as metric.


REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding. Able to carry out multiple and semi-complex instruction. Ability to deal with standard as well as occasional nontypical situations.


CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

  • Must have a valid Arkansas Driver’s License.
  • Must hold an Arkansas Class IV Wastewater Treatment Operator License.


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

The ability to supervise other Wastewater Treatment Plant operators.
