Hotel RIU Plaza Chicago is Hiring a Group Sales Manager Near Chicago, IL

The Group Sales Manager of the Riu Plaza Chicago is responsible for generating new business to ensure that room revenues and banquet catering revenues exceed budget in order to maximize profits and to improve the hotel’s performance in the marketplace.

Duties and Functions:

  • Proactively builds and strengthens relationships with existing and new customers to enable future bookings. Activities include but not limited to; outside sales calls, on and off-site entertainment, FAM trips and occasional trade show or industry related events. Primary focus is on Tour & Travel group business, DMC generated group business and Corporate group business.
  • Initiate and follow up on leads through internal channels and lead generator platforms.
  • Assist in the preparation of required reports in a timely manner.
  • Conduct a professional, thorough site inspection of the hotel with clients, exhibiting key features and benefits of the property
  • Develop strategies to increase share from competitors when the hotel revenue penetration goals are not being met.

Riu Plaza Chicago requires:

  • 2 - 3 years of Hotel Sales experience; preferably in Chicago
  • Position requires flexibility in scheduling, must be able to work morning, evenings, weekends and holidays
  • Exceptional organizational, interpersonal, clear verbal and written communication skills
  • Candidate must have attention to detail, be able to multi-task, must possess the ability to work in a fast paced environment, experience handling customer service issues and be a team player
  • Must have sufficient computer skills that allows the individual to be able to use, in a proficient manner, all issued software programs including but not limited to: Microsoft Office, Power Point, Excel, and Delphi
  • Bachelor Degree and/or Hotel Management Degree preferred / not required
  • Knowledge of departmental interaction and organizational structure in a hospitality context

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $27.00 - $30.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
