House of Ruth Maryland is Hiring a Safe Homes Intake Coordinator Near Baltimore, MD

Position Summary: The Intake Coordinator is the primary contact for participants entering the Safe Homes Strong Communities rapid rehousing program. Under the supervision of the Safe Homes Program Manager, the Intake Coordinator handles the triage and assessment of all intakes and referrals. Responsibilities include evaluating applications, determining eligibility, and ensuring compliance with program guidelines. The Intake Coordinator also guides new participants on available resources and supports their transition to permanent Safe Homes Coordinators. Additionally, the role involves managing a small caseload of long-term participants in rental assistance and voucher programs, providing safety planning, service coordination, advocacy, and support. A solid understanding of trauma and its effects is essential, as is comfort with the Voluntary Services program model.
Standard Schedule: This position operates Monday through Friday, from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, based at HRM’s Administration Building in Baltimore City, Maryland, with up to 20% travel around the Baltimore / PG County area.
Primary ResponsibilitiesUtilize a housing-first model to support program participants.
Review, evaluate, and verify all client intake information for eligibility compliance.
Triage inquiries and make contact within 24 hours, assessing needs and coordinating with service providers.
Conduct intakes and follow-ups, connecting participants with necessary resources.
Log and enter data into client files and tracking systems.
Respond to inquiries via email, phone, and mail.
Conduct intake meetings to explain program policies and procedures.
Manage and track the waitlist for program participants.
Generate reports to comply with requirements and audits.
Coordinate with team members to ensure participants complete individualized stability plans.
Participate in meetings, trainings, and inter-agency groups.
Maintain confidentiality and execute according to agency standards.
Process updates to applicants' records and prepare summary reports.
Transition participants to permanent Service Coordinators or alternative programs.
Manage a caseload of up to 10 participants, providing comprehensive service coordination.
Conduct home visits in safe environments and offer one-on-one counseling.
Distribute material goods according to program procedures.
Support participants in increasing self-sufficiency skills and problem-solving.
Maintain case files in line with program standards.
Participate in team meetings and make recommendations on participant stay and financial assistance eligibility.
Provide relief and backup coverage in emergencies.

Create and adjust service plans with participants.
Make offsite visits to providers and landlords.
Recommend participants for HRM programs and represent the agency with service providers.

Respond to inquiries within 24 hours.
Complete service plans and assessments promptly.
Ensure participants are well-informed and receive culturally appropriate services.
Properly document and justify expenditures of material goods and financial assistance.
Conduct follow-up visits as per program standards.
Maintain clear and professional case documentation.
Experience/ RequirementsTwo years of experience in counseling, case management, or victim advocacy. An Associate degree in Human Services may substitute for one year of experience.
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to relate to diverse individuals.
Excellent time management and organizational skills.
Clean driving record, valid driver’s license, and reliable transportation.
Must pass a Criminal Background Check.
Highly Preferred SkillsFluency in multiple languages (Spanish, French, Urdu, or Arabic).
Experience with the Latino immigrant community.
Knowledge of intimate partner or sexual violence.
Familiarity with local human services programs and housing resources.
