Housing Works fights for funding and legislation to ensure that all people living with HIV/AIDS have access to quality housing, healthcare, HIV prevention, and treatment, among other lifesaving services.

This position requires applicants to successfully complete a background check through the New York State Office of Children and Family Services when it supports the mandate under Section 424-a of the Social Services Law for legally authorized agencies to inquire of the Statewide Central Register of Child Abuse and Maltreatment (SCR) as to the existence of any indicated reports of child abuse and maltreatment against an applicant prior to employment, certification, or licensure in the childcare field. All background checks will be conducted and reviewed in accordance with applicable federal, state and local law.
Compensation Range: $85,000/yr - $90,000/yr commensurate with experience.
Overview:
The Assistant Director provides specialized Mental Health and Substance Use Treatment Services for multiple underserved populations, including persons with mental health diagnoses and substance use who suffer from ongoing mood and/or perceptual disorders; LGBTQ individuals; the unstably housed; persons with chronic health concerns; and persons involved in the criminal justice system. Housing Works' Behavioral Health Clinics uses a trauma-informed, harm reduction approach (including abstinence-based treatment in accordance with legal mandates) as its foundation for the treatment of mental health and substance use disorders. The Assistant Director is the lead clinician at the site, oversees the supervision of program clinical staff, and reports to the Director, who provides administrative and clinical support. Treatment will include individual sessions, intakes, and some group counseling based on client needs and preferences. Screening and clinical interviews will guide treatment planning, which may include medication and/or referrals to other services. Housing Works is seeking an Assistant Director who would be able to utilize their strong administrative and clinical background /experience to work in a collaborative, outcome focused setting. With the support of the Director and an interdisciplinary team of professionals, the Assistant Director will help achieve improved health outcomes for our client population. The ideal candidate will be familiar with population health model and comfortable using data to guide practice and supervision.
Responsibilities:
Primary:
  • Supports the Director in completion of monthly reports and complies with quarterly and annual contracting reporting as denoted by the regulatory agencies, in coordination with the development department.
  • Provides weekly clinical supervision to on site staff.
  • Reviews and modifies initial and episodic psychosocial, initial assessments, treatment plans, discharge plans, progress notes and conducts monthly chart reviews.
  • Remains aware of all clinical documentation policies that ensure comprehensive client care to meet the regulatory agencies' guidelines.
  • Participates in the peer review and QA/QI committee and thereby ensures, by regular monitoring, that client chart documentation are in accordance with all state and federal laws, rules, and regulations.
  • Supports the Director in updating tracking mechanisms to monitor clients' admissions, discharges and completion of treatment planning on caseloads and high-risk list.
  • Ensures the integrity of the OASAS/OMH program by maintaining confidentiality, ethics, and professional conduct throughout the program.
  • Facilitates therapeutic groups and provides weekly individual supportive counseling to OASAS/OMH clients for a specialized caseload.
  • Participates in all programmatic meetings and trainings.
  • Supports and participates in advocacy efforts to end the twin crises of homelessness and HIV/AIDS
  • Participates in agency wide continuous quality improvement activities aimed at improving health outcomes for program participants
  • Assist with the integration of evidence-based practice within the OP setting.
  • Provides on call coverage on a rotating basis

Minimum Requirements

  • Master's in Social Work from an accredited university
  • LCSW licensed in NY
  • Dually licensed CASAC preferred
  • Bilingual candidates encouraged to apply
  • 3 years of Administrative Supervisory experience
