Houston Astros is Hiring a Local Sales Manager - Space City Home Network Near Houston, TX

Reports to: General Manager

Classification: Full-Time/Exempt

Summary:

The Local Sales Manager plays a critical role in advertising revenue generation for the network by leading the sales team including Account Executives and Ad Sales Coordinators. Responsible for all aspects of Advertising Sales, including team management of local advertising sales department maintaining Advertising budget of revenue generation as we as expenditures. This position is based out of Space City Home Network office located at 1201 San Jacinto St., Houston, TX and required presence at the office.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

  • Lead local sales advertising revenue generation for the network.
  • Develop and maintain direct relationships with local agencies and local clients to generate revenue.
  • Fulfill all negotiated deal points for locally activate sponsorships.
  • Manage extensive reporting responsibilities (on a daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual basis) directly to GM/President, and VP of Finance.
  • Work directly with Production Department, Programming Department, Finance Department, and Marketing Department on all aspects of Ad Sales.
  • Communicate with sales team on opportunities and specific station needs, including setting unit rates, establishing sell-out standards, and negotiating for increased share of advertising buys.
  • Develop local contacts to influence advertising decisions.
  • Work with General Manager to establish annual budgets, and to establish revenue goals and strategies with National Sales Manager and local Account Executives to achieve all goals.
  • Be prepared with information pertaining to budget, share, targeted share, dayparts purchased, and any other historical or current account information that sales management may require to make sound business decisions.
  • Develop and create new programs to maximize revenue from existing clients.
  • Effectively use all sales assets and opportunities to maximize share.
  • Develop new business plans for both Local clients and agencies.
  • Lead weekly sales meetings. Update Local sales team and traffic department on the business and marketplace. Present team overviews and ratings analyses.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Work Environment

Position will work in an office and stadium environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. Must be able to work in all types of outdoor weather conditions and within a stadium environment.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close and focused vision. 

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Ability to work a flexible schedule, including extended hours, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Travel

Moderate travel may be expected for this position.
