Administers and directly applies Speech/Language therapy treatment modalities as prescribed by the referring physician. Evaluates plans, directs and treats all patients referred for speech/language therapy. Pathology treatments to restore function and prevent disability following disease or injury. Assists patients to obtain maximum performance and function in society while learning to live a routine "normal" life within the constraints of their disability. Participates in performance improvement activities within the department. Assures personal competency. Provides information related to departmental budget considerations in relationship to Speech pathology needs for optimum patient care and service. Assists in scheduling of patient visits for speech pathology evaluation and treatment. Participates in infection control, safety and educational programs, both in department and on an organizational basis.
Masters Degree in Speech Language Pathology (communication disorders) from an accredited program in speech/language therapy. Georgia license and American Speech/Language Association Certification (ASHA) or Speech Pathology PCE Temporary License (PCE). Must obtain ASHA license within 12 months of employment. Current AHA, BLS certification. Ability to read, analyze and interpret patient evaluations, assessments and procedures. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients and patients Utilizes a variety of office equipment to include computer, copier and fax.
