JOB SUMMARY
The Coordinator 1 Social Emotional Learning (SEL) plays a vital role in supporting the implementation and coordination of SEL programs within the district. This position primarily focuses on assisting with the development, organization, and delivery of SEL initiatives, working closely with administrators, teachers, counselors, and other stakeholders to foster social and emotional well-being.
MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Program Support: Assist in the development and implementation of a comprehensive Social Emotional Learning program that aligns with the organization's objectives and goals. Contribute to the creation of curriculum materials, resources, and activities to support SEL initiatives.
2. Training and Professional Development: Support the delivery of training sessions and professional development opportunities for staff, including teachers, administrators, and support personnel. Help organize workshops, seminars, and conferences related to SEL practices and interventions.
3. Collaboration: Collaborate with teachers, counselors, administrators, and other relevant stakeholders to ensure the effective integration of SEL practices across various settings. Support the coordination of SEL initiatives with community partners and mental health professionals to leverage additional resources and expertise.
4. Data Collection and Analysis: Assist in collecting and analyzing data to evaluate the effectiveness of SEL programs and interventions. Help maintain records and documentation of SEL activities and outcomes. Contribute to the preparation of reports and presentations based on evaluation findings.
MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES CONTINUED
5. Student or Employee Support: Provide support to students or employees in addressing social and emotional needs. Assist in implementing SEL interventions, conducting group activities, and referring individuals to appropriate support services.
6. Communication and Outreach: Support the communication and outreach efforts related to SEL initiatives. Assist in organizing parent and community engagement events, including workshops, presentations, and informational sessions.
7. Resource Management: Assist in managing and organizing SEL resources, including books, materials, and equipment. Maintain an inventory of SEL-related materials and assist in procuring additional resources as needed.
8. Stay Informed: Stay up to date with the latest research, trends, and best practices in Social Emotional Learning. Attend relevant conferences, workshops, and professional development opportunities to enhance knowledge and skills.
EDUCATION
Bachelor's degree in Education, Psychology, Counseling, or a related field.
WORK EXPERIENCE
Experience working in education or organizational settings, preferably with exposure to social emotional learning or related areas.
Knowledge of social and emotional development theories and their application in educational or organizational contexts.
Familiarity with evidence based SEL practices and interventions.
Proficient in data collection, analysis, and basic reporting.
Familiarity with relevant software and technology tools.
Experience in creating an inclusive and supportive learning or working environment.
Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
SKILL AND/OR REQUIRED LICENSING/CERTIFICATION
Microsoft Office
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills.
Strong organizational and project management abilities.
Detail-oriented and well-organized, with the ability to handle multiple tasks and priorities.
Proficient in data collection, analysis, and basic reporting.
LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES
Regularly provides project management or team leadership to a group of two or more employees but does not have formal supervisory responsibility. Leading and directing is restricted to monitoring work and providing guidance on escalated issues. Most of work time is spent performing many of the same duties they are leading.
WORK COMPLEXITY/INDEPENDENT JUDGMENT
Work is substantially complex, varied and regularly requires the selection and application of technical and detailed guidelines. Independent judgment is required to identify, select, and apply the most appropriate methods as well as interpret precedent. Position regularly makes recommendations to management on areas of significance to the department. Supervision received typically consists of providing direction on the more complex projects and new job duties and priorities.
BUDGET AUTHORITY
Compiles and organizes data and figures.
PROBLEM SOLVING
Decisions are made on both routine and non-routine matters with some latitude but are still subject to approval. Job is occasionally expected to recommend new solutions to problems and improve existing methods or generate new ideas.
IMPACT OF DECISIONS
Decisions have considerable impact to multiple divisions or the organization causing risks or improvements to relationships, significant efficiencies, or delays in operations, and/or significant financial gains or expenses.
Errors are serious and difficult to discover, normally involve decisions not subject to detailed review and will result in excessive costs and/or significant project delays.
COMMUNICATION/INTERACTIONS
Collaborate and solve problems - works with others to resolve problems, clarify, or interpret complex information/policies, and provide initial screening/negotiations without approval authority. Interactions are typically with customers, senior level professional staff, and managers.
CUSTOMER RELATIONSHIPS
Leads others in the resolution of highly sensitive and confidential issues on behalf of the department. Acts as a trusted advisor and becomes involved in the customer's decision-making process including presenting alternatives and information and applying persuasion and negotiation skills in the resolution of problems. Monitors customer service standards.
WORKING/ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS
Work is normally performed in a typical interior work environment which does not subject the employee to any hazardous or unpleasant elements.
Ability to carry and/or lift less than 45 pounds.
