Overview:
Houston Marriott Westchase Hotel is looking to hire an On-Call Banquet Houseperson to join our team!

Position Summary:
This individual will help to direct the set up and preparation of banquet rooms for banquet functions, as well as clear and tear down banquet rooms at the end of the function.


Scheduling:
This is an ON-CALL position that requires availability on any day of the week, including Saturday and Sundays.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assemble and arrange conference equipment in conference rooms per event order and to the standard set by Conference Services management.
  • Daily thorough cleaning of classrooms, ballrooms and team rooms following proper cleaning standards including the removal of trash from meeting spaces and the restocking of meeting room supplies.
  • Refreshes meeting rooms during meal and coffee breaks
  • Completes special projects as directed by department management.
  • Moves convention material boxes, programs, etc. from hotel receiving docks, registration areas, guest rooms or suites.
  • Bus tables and re-set them as needed.
  • Resolve guests’ issues and create an amazing experience.
  • Communicate and maintain a positive relationship with culinary and stewarding staff.
  • Maintain an awareness of all functions, events and meetings taking place at any given time.
This list is not all inclusive, additional job functions would be discussed during a interview.

The hotel operates seven (7) days a week and twenty-four (24) hours per day. All employees, both management and hourly, should be aware of this fact and assist in other departments and/or job functions as needed and requested by management.
Qualifications:
  • Able to communicate in the English language sufficient to understand event directions from supervisor, as well as communicate with guest.
  • Standing for long periods and extensive walking, up to entire shift, with frequent bending, squatting, stooping and side-to-side movement.
  • Able to extend arms and ability to carry and/or lift trays up to 50 lbs. unassisted.
  • Able to climb ladders up to 30 feet high and reach in all directions, often overhead.
  • Ability move or push goods on a hand cart/truck weighing up to 1800 lbs.
  • Prior event set-up experience preferred.
Please be advised, this position requires considerable physical activity on a continuous basis for the entirety of shift; setting up for events can include but not limited to, pushing and pulling hand carts up to 1800 lbs, transporting awkward and heavy materials such as staging, tables, chairs, dance-floors, etc., from storage area to meeting rooms as well as breaking down when concluded and returning to storage closet.
