The Cardiovascular/STEMI Coordinator is responsible for organizing, leading and maintaining the ongoing performance improvement and educational initiatives related to the cardiovascular care of the patient with Acute Coronary Syndrome. This position coordinates cardiovascular education programs to agencies in the Houston Healthcare referral areas. Also assists in the maintenance of the PCI program certification. In collaboration with the administrative leadership, will implement and maintain the STEMI program goals and objectives which are congruent with the mission and objectives of HHC. Responsible for the development, implementation, and overall clinical flow of the STEMI program. Works collaboratively with patients and their families, health care providers, community groups, and schools to facilitate Cardiovascular Care and prevention throughout the continuum of care. Collaborates with hospitals and professional organizations to facilitate the development and compliance with the regional STEMI center: assessing community screening needs; participating in meetings as appropriate to assure effective communication; demonstrates effective interpersonal communication skills, provides expertise in the area of cardiovascular care; consults with health care institutions and community agencies to meet the needs of the patients, volunteer, and care providers. Develops and promotes a standard of care consistent with decreasing inpatient resource utilization and contribute to service excellence at the hospital. Will facilitate/assist with future cardiovascular accreditations and pursuits.
Graduate of an accredited School of nursing. Three years’ experience in cath lab and cath recovery field; 3 years’ experience in development of educational programs.
Current licensure by the Georgia State Board of Nursing. AHA/ARC BLS certification required. AHA ACLS/ARC ALS required or obtained within nine (9) months of hire. Successful completion of an HHC Basic Rhythm Interpretation Course or CLEP Exam within nine (9) months of hire.
Successful candidates will be subject to criminal background and drug screens.
