Houston Methodist is Hiring a Business Development Outreach Project Specialist Near Sugar, TX

At Houston Methodist, the Business and Community Outreach Specialist is responsible for the coordination of Community and/or Employer Relations development and management for the purpose of business growth. Works closely with leadership to ensure activities related to employer and/or community relations are aligned with the hospital strategic plan(s) and objectives and with growth initiatives targeted to community members. Develops, manages or assists with the hospital community benefit programs in collaboration with system efforts and resources and is responsible for community benefits activities. Develops, implements and measures the effectiveness of community and employer relations efforts and programs. Collaborates with executives, leadership team, physician liaisons, and/or corporate employer health services to build and improve as needed, relationships with the community, employers and school districts. May coordinate functions and activities such as health fairs and speaking engagements for physicians and/or within the community and targeted employers. Communicates and interacts on a regular basis with the Senior Leadership Team and directors and managers or other departments within the hospital.

PEOPLE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Coordinates and executes functions and activities such as community health fairs, speaking engagements, etc. aimed at fostering relationships with community and/or employers and other targeted community organizations and entities.
  • Identifies and assesses those organizations that should be targeted to build relationships and grow the organization's/hospital's business. Responsible for making contact, building and maintain relationships
  • Collaborate with peers and hospital leadership and community outreach specialists to strengthen community ties with the organization.
  • Represents the hospital and CEO to community with poise and professionalism.
SERVICE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Represents the hospital to external organizations. Develops strategic relationships with community organizations, area corporations, employers and the community, leading initiatives to establish, foster and improve hospital relationships with the community and targeted employers.
  • Serves as hospital representative to area chambers. Holds board or leadership positions on select community boards and/or leadership teams as appropriate.
  • Serves as a communication link between management, staff and outside agents (community representatives, community groups, physicians and their office staff).
QUALITY/SAFETY ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Ensures the timely, complete and accurate exchange of information (written and verbal) and ideas with all stakeholders including market intelligence, competitor information and business opportunities. Keeps senior management/leadership up to date and informed as appropriate.
  • Stays abreast and adheres to current Stark, HIPAA and IRS regulations in accordance with Houston Methodist policies.
FINANCE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Responsible for the annual community benefit report including coordinating with all service line leaders, tracking events/personnel attended/marketing collaterals and verifying and validating expense for the state report.
  • Stays up to date on changes in assigned market(s) to identify potential new business or improve current service offerings.
  • Maintain community/stakeholder database identifying community and business leaders in the market area.
GROWTH/INNOVATION ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Assess various sponsorship opportunities to meet the strategic objectives of the hospital, such as YMCA partnerships, galas, lunches, chambers, golf tournaments and health fairs.
  • Assists the hospital leadership team with organizing and identifying representatives to attend community events, galas, and other sponsored activities.

EDUCATION
  • Bachelor's degree required. An additional four years experience in addition to the minimum experience requirement below can be considered in lieu degree
WORK EXPERIENCE
  • Three years of progressive experience in the area of public relations, marketing, community relations, sales, business or fund development
  • Hospital or healthcare related experience preferred
