Houston Methodist Physician Organization is seeking an experienced and motivated Interventional Pulmonologist to join our established group of three pulmonary physicians in Sugar Land, TX. The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in developing and leading the hospital's lung lung nodule program.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide expert clinical care to patients with complex pulmonary conditions, including but not limited to lung cancer, interstitial lung diseases, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), asthma, and sleep disorders.
  • Perform a variety of advanced interventional pulmonary procedures, such as endobronchial ultrasound (EBUS), navigational bronchoscopy, electromagnetic navigation bronchoscopy (ENB), bronchial thermoplasty, and pleuroscopy.
  • Collaborate with other specialists, including thoracic surgeons, radiologists, medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, oncology nurse navigators and respiratory therapists, to provide multidisciplinary care to patients with lung cancer.
  • Actively attends and participates in thoracic tumor board and lung nodule multidisciplinary conferences.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans for patients based on their diagnosis, stage of disease, and overall health status.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of the hospital's lung cancer screening program and work towards establishing a comprehensive lung cancer care program.
  • Provide education and counseling to patients and families regarding their condition, treatment options, and self-management techniques.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, including performance improvement projects and clinical research, to enhance patient outcomes and advance the field of interventional pulmonology.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation in the electronic medical record, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and best practices.
  • Collaborate with other members of the pulmonary team to provide seamless and coordinated care to patients.
  • Stay updated with the latest advancements in interventional pulmonology through ongoing professional development and education.

Qualifications:

  • Medical degree from an accredited medical school
  • Board certification in Pulmonary Medicine
  • Fellowship training in Interventional Pulmonology
  • Active medical license in the state of Texas
  • Proven experience in performing advanced interventional pulmonary procedures, such as EBUS, ENB, bronchial thermoplasty, and pleuroscopy
  • Strong clinical skills and ability to manage complex pulmonary conditions
  • Strong interest in developing and leading a lung cancer program
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, interdisciplinary team environment
  • Commitment to patient-centered care and evidence-based practice
  • Ability to adapt to a fast-paced environment and manage time efficiently
