Houston Physicians' Hospital is Hiring a MRI/CT Technologist - Evening Shift (FT) Near Webster, TX

JOB SUMMARY
This position is accountable for performing quality MRI Imaging through the application of advanced technical knowledge while maintaining strict attention to patient care. This position is accountable for providing expertise for all ages from neonatal/newborn to adults. The patient acuity ranges from stable outpatients to critically ill patients on full life support.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • ARRT required
  • MRI certification preferred
  • State registration if required by respective state
  • BLS Certified
  • 2-3 years MRI experience
  • Possess a level of clinical expertise and competency in cross sectional anatomy
  • Venipuncture skills required
  • Ability to handle critical care situations which can create a high level of stress
  • Must be willing to cross train into CT and Xray
OCCUPATIONAL EXPOSURE
Category I exposure to blood borne pathogens, frequent exposure to chemical hazards and may encounter radiation hazards.
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • General Clinical Practice
    • Know and demonstrate proficiency of all MRI examinations.
    • Maintains the safety of the MRI suite in conjunction with patients and multidisciplinary staff.
    • Evaluates examination orders for pertinent clinical information and assesses needs of patient and requirements for the exam in conjunction with the radiologist.
    • Recognize emergent patient conditions.
    • Coordinates critical patient transport with appropriate nursing personnel as applicable.
    • Collaborates with Patient Services and anesthesia as needed.
    • Ability to work independently.
  • Teaching/Personal Knowledge
    • Provide positive environment for employees to seek their highest potential.
    • Provides appropriate information and instruction to patient and family.
  • Department Policy and Procedure
    • Demonstrate competency and proficiency in performing all MRI procedures as identified in the MRI Tech competency.
    • Identify anatomical orientation, sequencing of images and verify accurate patient identification of images for accurate record retention and archiving.
    • Accurately assess, select, prepare and administer contrast materials to patients in accordance to best clinical practices.
    • Demonstrate competency and efficiency in safety in the MRI suite.
    • Ability to assess patient condition; preserve patient safety through proper use of immobilization devices.
    • Maintain confidentiality of all patient and facility related information.
  • Care of Environment and Equipment
    • Supplies and equipment necessary for patient care are stored in an organized and efficient manner.
    • Demonstrates correct and safe techniques in the use of equipment.
    • Maintain a clean, neat and safe environment for patients and staff according to facility Policies.
  • Information Processing
    • Use computer system in documenting, correctly and accurately, patient information.
    • Proficient in computer terminology and applications.
    • Demonstrate the ability to perform all necessary computer operations to include PACS system. Verify accurate charge capture for procedures performed.
    • Accurately transcribe physician orders and facilitate correcting mistakes or unclear orders with appropriate people.
  • Quality Improvement and Safety
    • Report all safety hazards that could harm patients, visitors, or other facility employees.
    • Assist in identifying appropriate indicators for the department's Quality Improvement programs.
    • Discuss difficult cases with radiologist to reduce the number of patient call backs.
    • Initiate occurrence reports when problems are identified.
