Summary:
Tetra Tech Rooney’s Houston, TX office is currently seeking a Senior GIS Specialist to support a variety of projects for pipelines. The successful candidate will bring GIS experience and technical expertise to a team of established consultants with a proven track record in the oil and gas industry. The Specialist will also support the development of web-based GIS tools with their in-depth knowledge and experience with ESRI desktop, online, and mobile suite applications.
Your Role:
The GIS Specialist position will support staff, and will involve work with other GIS Specialists, data managers, geologists, engineers, and project managers across the company, providing support on various contracts and projects.
- Perform moderate GIS and data management tasks including map/figure creation, geospatial and environmental data/database management, data analysis and reporting, web-based mapping application development, and mobile data collection setup and management.
- Assigns and reviews the work of junior and project support staff.
- Secondary functions may include occasional field work on projects/sites.
- Responsibilities may include supporting field staff with the collection, documentation, and management of photos, operation of tablets and GPS equipment used for field studies (not including machinery), interpretation of sample data, and assisting with the preparation of data summary reports or web-based dashboards and story maps.
- Analytical thinking, attention to detail, and database management skills will help you be successful in this role.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Graduate of a 4-year accredited university in GIS technological studies, range science, environmental engineering, geology, or geotechnical engineering.
- 8 - 13 years' experience.
- Education and career interests should be related to oil and gas industry.
- Must be computer literate and have knowledge of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat Pro, ArcMap and ESRI mobile applications.
- Proficiency in ArcPro is a plus.
- A Pre-employment drug screening in compliance with state regulations is required.
- Must possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving record without restrictions.
