Howard Fischer Associates is hiring an Electrical and Test Engineering Manager for a client in the autonomous transportation space. As the Electrical and Test Engineering Manager, you will lead the electrical and test engineering team and collaborate closely with hardware teams in other disciplines (mechanical, optical, sensor, firmware, etc.) to design the sensors, actuators and networks for the roadside infrastructure. Your team will also work closely with our software and perception teams so we can use the technology to stand up a “digital twin” of our roadways. If you like deploying systems in the real world, multi-disciplinary collaboration, and building teams, we want you to come join our team.

Role Overview:

  • Be the technical lead and manager of a team of electrical and test engineers.
  • Participate in system architecture definition, component selection, and design execution.
  • Lead all schematic, layout, signal integrity, and power integrity activities including validation and verification.
  • Participate in hardware and software builds, bring-up, debug, and integration.
  • Collaborate with cross functional teams to support the product development, bring-up, debug, and release to production.
  • Develop functional specifications, procedures, and documentation required for integrating modules, subsystems and assemblies into our sensor and actuator suite as required by our deployments.
  • Interface with multiple external vendors (OEM partners, suppliers, and component suppliers), including a focus on PCB board layout and design.
  • Support functional safety activities, worst case circuit analysis, and DFMEA.
  • Support and perform EMC/EMI/ESD testing, thermal testing, reliability testing, hardware verification and validation.
  • Work with a wide variety of high-speed electrical interfaces.
  • Collaborate with a world class team of experts with a wide range of backgrounds across robotics, medical devices, aerospace, consumer products, enterprise equipment, automotive design, and more.
  • Travel to remote offices, project sites, engineering partners, and manufacturing partners.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related technical field.
  • 8 years of experience in electrical engineering or related field, plus recent Team Lead experience.
  • Experience leading and driving design development including schematic capture, PCB layout, SI/PI analysis, and assembly.
  • Experience with processor architecture and digital circuit design.
  • Experience working through an entire product development cycle.
  • Experience in the validation and verification of electrical hardware systems.
  • Proficiency with electrical debug and test equipment; including oscilloscopes, multimeters, logic analyzers, JTAG tools, etc.
  • Excellent communication skills with diverse cross functional teams and external partners.
  • A positive and self-driven individual, who is detail oriented, responsible, and desires to challenge themselves by learning new skills or technologies.
  • Experience with high durability, high power, and high reliability products is a plus.
  • Experience designing to automotive or military standards is a plus.
  • Experience with cameras, LIDAR and/or RADAR is a plus.
  • Experience with L2 autonomous vehicle hardware is a plus.
  • Experience in writing software for bringup and/or testing is a plus.
  • Experience with failure analysis is a plus.
  • Experience with rapid prototyping and design for manufacturing (DFM) is a plus.
