Position Overview:

We are currently seeking a Senior Estimator. The Senior Estimator will conduct construction estimating, budgeting, and bidding for assigned projects. They will interact with architects, clients, business development, and operations staff to ensure a clear understanding of project objectives, schedules, and other relevant information. The Senior Estimator will develop hard bids or negotiated work pricing proposals in response to specific proposal requests, obtaining all necessary cost information from reliable subcontractors and material suppliers to meet project requirements. They will maintain contact with subcontractors to ensure availability of resources for upcoming projects.

What You Will Be Doing:

- Review plans and architectural drawings; prepare quantity take-offs on assigned projects.

- Conduct a complete review of plans and drawings for negotiated work, identifying and accounting for any omitted items.

- Share information about reliable subcontractors and suppliers with other Estimators; develop and maintain effective working relationships.

- Solicit subcontractor bids for assigned projects, reviewing and analyzing bids for conformance to specifications and other criteria.

- Follow approved estimating practices consistent with corporate guidelines.

- Stay informed about trends and changes in construction codes affecting bid completeness.

- Utilize appropriate software programs for estimating, recording, and tracking estimates.

- Attend client meetings as requested to discuss estimates and resolve pricing and estimate issues.

- Maintain relationships with clients during projects to ensure satisfaction.

- Provide change order pricing, site visits, bid delivery, and occasional collaboration with teams on specific bids.

- Review data to determine material and labor requirements and prepare itemized lists.

- Compute cost factors and prepare estimates for management purposes.

- Conduct special studies to establish standard hour and related cost data or effect cost reductions.

- Consult with clients, vendors, or other individuals to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues.

- Organize and manage a centralized cost estimating database and process.

- Analyze completed projects to compare estimated vs. actual costs and identify reasons for discrepancies.

- Provide recommendations to improve cost estimating procedures.

- Identify cost trends to support cost reduction and process improvement efforts.

What We Are Looking For:

- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Engineering or Management, or equivalent work experience.

- 5-10 years of general construction estimating experience in interiors or base building projects.

- Well-developed skills in estimating, communications, financial analysis, budgeting, purchasing, negotiation, and computer software (e.g., MS Office, estimating and project management software).
