Job Summary

As an Industrial Engineer working in manufacturing, your primary responsibility is to optimize and streamline production processes to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and improve overall productivity. You will play a crucial role in analyzing and designing manufacturing systems, identifying bottlenecks, and implementing strategies to maximize resource utilization. Your expertise will contribute to the continuous improvement of the manufacturing operations, ensuring the highest quality standards are met while achieving optimal output.

HSM specializes through its subsidiaries, in the manufacturing of components for furniture, bedding, transportation, packaging, automotive, and healthcare industries. Responsibilities

Process Analysis and Optimization:

  • Analyze existing manufacturing processes, workflows, and layouts to identify areas for improvement.
  • Conduct time and motion studies, perform data analysis, and gather relevant metrics to identify bottlenecks and inefficiencies.
  • Develop and implement strategies to optimize production flow, minimize waste, and increase throughput.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to redesign processes, eliminate non-value-added activities, and enhance overall efficiency.

Production Planning and Scheduling:

  • Collaborate with production managers and planners to develop production schedules that meet customer demands and optimize resource utilization.
  • Conduct capacity planning exercises and provide recommendations for balancing workload and capacity constraints.
  • Evaluate production requirements, lead time, and inventory levels to establish efficient material flow and inventory management systems.
  • Implement lean manufacturing principles to reduce lead times, inventory holding costs, and production cycle times.

Workstation and Layout Design:

  • Optimize workstation layouts to improve ergonomics, reduce worker fatigue, and enhance productivity.
  • Design efficient material handling systems, including the layout of storage areas, material flow paths, and transportation methods.
  • Utilize simulation tools and techniques to evaluate and validate proposed layout changes before implementation.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of layout changes and equipment installations.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Identify opportunities for process improvements, cost reduction, and waste elimination.
  • Implement Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and other continuous improvement methodologies to drive operational excellence.
  • Lead or participate in Kaizen events, root cause analysis, and problem-solving activities.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement by providing training, guidance, and support to the manufacturing team.

Data Analysis and Performance Measurement:

  • Collect, analyze, and interpret production data to identify trends, performance gaps, and improvement opportunities.
  • Develop and maintain key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of manufacturing processes.
  • Prepare reports and presentations to communicate findings and recommendations to management and stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with the quality assurance team to implement statistical process control (SPC) and ensure product quality standards are met.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering or a related field. A master's degree is a plus.
  • Proven experience in industrial engineering roles within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of lean manufacturing principles, process optimization techniques, and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Proficiency in using computer-aided design (CAD) software and simulation tools.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex data.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Solid understanding of production planning, scheduling, and material flow.
  • Knowledge of quality control and statistical process control (SPC) techniques.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing technologies, equipment, and automation systems.
  • Continuous learning mindset to keep up with industry trends and advancements.
