The Class C truck driver will be responsible to always drive the company box-truck in a safe manner. Ability to work in a team environment delivering material via box truck, picking orders, putting material away, loading and unloading trucks, and other functions associated with the manufacturing operation to ensure accurate and timely shipments to our external and internal customers.
The associate must be willing to perform efficiently and be able to multi-task at the highest level at all times to ensure the overall success of the department and organization.
Duties & ResponsibilitiesThe following is a brief description of some of the duties and responsibilities but is not limited to:
  • Ability to operate company box-truck in a safe and law-abiding manner to pick up and deliver material. Work within a fast paced, production oriented, safe environment.
  • Capable of lifting up to 60 lbs. with the ability to ask for assistance when required.
  • Ability to properly use power industrial material handling equipment i.e. reach truck, forklift, and pallet jacks.
  • Communicates with associates and superiors to maintain safety and quality.
  • Willingness to follow the direction of the Supervisor and/or Group Lead.
  • Suggests production and quality improvement ideas to the Supervisor and/or Sr. Material Handler.
  • Perform daily activities using various computer programs i.e., SAP, WIP Tracker, Microsoft Excel, Bartender, BFI, Radio Frequency Scanners.
  • Responsible for housekeeping in assigned work areas.
  • Respond to customers internal/external in a timely fashion.
  • Responsible for daily pickup and delivery of product.
  • Responsible for safe operation of light duty box truck.
  • Participates in weekly cycle counts.
  • Accepts other responsibilities as requested by the Supervisor and/or Sr. Material Handler.
  • Complete and submit all required safety inspections by adhering to established timeframes.
  • This is a safety sensitive position, which means the employee’s job performance can affect the safety of the employee and others. Job performance under the influence of alcohol or drugs could lead to physical injury or death to the employee, other employees, or members of the public at large. Therefore, employee must be able to perform the job responsibilities without causing a threat to co-workers, to the workplace, or to the public at large. Pre-employment drug screen testing will be performed.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works in outside weather conditions. The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles and vibration. Also, regularly required to walk, sit, talk, hear, use hands and fingers to operate objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to balance, stoop, kneel, and crouch.
Technical ExpertiseThe following is a brief description of the technical expertise duties but is not limited to:
  • Good communication and telephone skills are required.
  • Use of Power Industrial Equipment.
  • Excellent basic math skills.
  • Able to perform daily tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Valid CDL Class C License with Air Brake Endorsement and a CLEAN Motor Vehicle Record
  • Valid DOT Medical Card
REPORTING TO: Material Handler Line Lead & Logistics Manager, Freetown, MA
SUBORDINATES: N/A
Education/Experience
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Employee must pass and be re-certified (as required) DOT driver physical, pre-employment drug screen and pre-employment background check.
  • Employee must always wear steel toe safety shoes and safety glasses while on duty and when inside the buildings with the exception of bathroom, cafeteria, offices and truck cab.
  • Must have a valid state CDL Class C Driver's License & a Clean Motor Vehicle Record.
  • Must have current DOT physical card and maintain re-certification
  • Employee is subject to DOT pre-employment, post-accident and random drug and alcohol testing.
  • Employee must follow all published safety rules and perform job in a safe manner.
  • Minimum of two years’ experience driving a light duty box truck.
  • Ability to communicate and interact effectively in all situations.
  • Minimum two years’ experience working in a manufacturing environment.
  • Report all injuries, no matter how minor, to supervisor and/or Safety Manager immediately, filling out proper incident report form the same day as the incident.
Other Qualifications
  • Language Skills – Ability to speak, read and write in English.
  • Reasoning Ability – Ability to define problems and present solutions, self-starter/initiator.
  • Physical Demands – Ability to reach and use arms, hands and fingers. Ability to hear and smell.
  • Weight Limitations –Ability to lift 60 lbs.
  • Vision Requirements – Close and distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception; and ability to adjust focus.
  • Work Environment – Moderate Noise Conditions. Work in areas that may be noisy and dirty. Work in ambient temperatures ranging from very cold to very hot.
  • Personal, Protective Equipment - Ability to wear safety glasses, gloves, safety shoes and other job related personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
  • Medical Card – Must be able to maintain a medical card certification for this role.
  • CDL Class C License - Must have a valid class C CDL license with Air Brakes endorsements for this role.
