Hub Group Careers is Hiring a Vice President, Managed Transportation Near St. Louis, MO

The VP, Operations and Account Management is responsible for the day to day oversight of operations and account management. The VP will develop and participate in internal and external relationship management to maintain current customer service standards. This position is located in the St. Louis office, and reports directly to the SVP, Managed Transportation.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Direct and deliver existing services to meet customer expectations.
  • Provide executive sponsorship to projects for customer start-ups, additions and change programs with scope, budget, timing, etc.
  • Departmental responsibilities include the profit/loss generated by Hub Group.
  • Delegate appropriate workflow to proper Directors or Managers to ensure department goals are achieved while maintaining expected customer service levels. 
  • Work with Account Directors and Managers to drive volume growth and margin enhancement.
  • Seek new business opportunities for Hub Group to maintain balance and improve margins.
  • Manage customer relationships in accordance with overall account plan.
  • Meet or exceed monthly metrics goals, as set by SVP and attend Quarterly Review Meetings (QRM).
  • Maintain customer relationships and participate in high level customer meetings.
  • Interact with customers and Sales to identify growth opportunities.
  • Collaborate with internal departments to ensure accurate and complete on-boarding of new clients/business follows Hub Group standards.
  • Support pre-sales activities including demos, opportunity assessments and discussions with the client’s management.
  • Support sales staff to identify, qualify, progress and close potential new business opportunities from new and current accounts.
  • Duties, responsibilities and activities may be assigned or changed from time to time. 

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Logistics and or related field.
  • Possess Multi-Modal Transportation and Supply Chain expertise.
  • Five or more years of leadership operations and management experience is preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of accounting procedures required.
  • Must possess leadership skills and have the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of personnel, customers and vendors.
  • Proficiency with MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook), Databases and Internet skills.
  • Outstanding leadership abilities including problem solving, interpersonal communications, goal orientation, teaching/coaching, self-discipline and systemic thinking. 
  • Excellent oral communications, written communications, organizational skills, attention to detail, as well as proven analytical ability. Strong problem solving skills, ability to use good business judgment and attentive decision making.
  • 30-50% Travel will be required based on specific customer requirements.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities as well as flexibility to adapt to change with new systems and methods while working in a team environment.
