Job Details

Job Overview
Generate new product literature for both standard and custom products; working in consultation with marketing product managers, design, application, and software engineers. Update and revise existing product literature, ensuring technical accuracy, completeness of all information, and consistency in appearance.
Translate technical requirements into clear, concise instructions for use by customers and field personnel. Edit various types of documents including, but not limited to, Engineering Specifications, IOM manuals, and company procedures. Serve as a resource for others in the organization for expertise in desktop publishing and word processing computer applications.
Provide technical writing services for other Hubbell business units as needed.
A Day In The Life
Writer/Editor :
  • Develop, write, and revise all engineering standard product manuals and custom/special product technical documents, and software release notes in consultation with the engineering and product managers.
  • Develop and implement standard formats to ensure a consistent, professional appearance among GAI-Tronics' technical documents.
  • As requested, proofread and edit documents written by others for appearance, organization, and grammatical accuracy.
Documentation Management:
  • Organize and maintain computerized filing systems of documentation to ensure the appropriate level of availability within the organization. This includes GAI-Tronics SharePoint web based repository, tracking systems and databases.
  • Assign manual, quick guide, addendum and bulletin part numbers using the GAI-Tronics business software (SAP).
  • Input released documents into Document Info Records within GAI-Tronics business software (SAP) and perform all document electronic notifications.
  • Coordinate and expedite the review and comment process among the author and the appropriate department representatives, and document the results.
  • Control relavency of documents.
  • Manage document translation process when required.
Other:
  • Research and recommend appropriate software tools to increase efficiency, improve document appearance, and maintain state-of-the-art capabilities as they evolve.
  • Maintain CAD files of document figures.
  • Plan and prioritize assignments and projects to ensure timely availability
  • Contribute toward improvements of work processes
  • Practice professional and ethical conduct of the highest standard as required by GAI-Tronics policies

Required Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
  • BA in Professional Writing/Technical Communications or BS in an engineering discipline.
  • Internship(s) experience in writing and editing of technical manuals.
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office suite and desktop publication applications.
