At HudsonWay Immersion School, the Early Childhood Education (ECE) and English Language Arts (ELA) teacher position provides ELA instruction to our kindergarten and first grade students and 30-minute lessons to our ECE classes. The ideal candidate will have an understanding and commitment of early childhood growth and development and a proven track record of early childhood success. Knowledge of The Creative Curriculum is preferred.

As an Early Childhood Education (ECE) and English Language Arts (ELA) teacher at HudsonWay Immersion School in Stirling, NJ, you will be a specialist, rather than a homeroom teacher. Most of our students’ day is taught in either Mandarin or Spanish by native-speaking teachers. The ECE teacher will teach 30-minute lessons to our pre-K 3 and 4 students, and one kindergarten and one 1st grade ELA class.

Major responsibilities:

  • Plans a program of study that meets the individual needs of students i.e. differentiates instruction for children of different linguistic, cultural and academic backgrounds, as well as for children with different learning styles, needs, interests, and abilities of the students.
  • Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.
  • Conducts parent-teacher conferences two times per year
  • Knows early intervention strategies to support the staff, students, and families.
  • Orders ECE & ELA materials to support the program.
  • Encourages students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior.
  • Employs a variety of instructional strategies, inclusive of immersion techniques, and instructional media, based on the needs/capabilities of the students.
  • Strives to implement by instruction and action our instructional goals and objectives.
  • Maintains accurate and correct records as required by law, school policy and administrative regulations.
  • Strives to maintain and improve professional competence.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master’s degree in P-3 or elementary education required
  • 3-4 years of classroom experience with pre-K aged children required
  • Superb written and verbal communication skills necessary
  • Excellent organizational and classroom management skills expected
  • Strong computer skills, and use of technology in the classroom

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with all federal, state and local regulations including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
  • Must be able to sit for extended periods of time, and to walk bend stand, etc. moving through school property; go to bank to make deposits
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 20 lbs.
