Position Overview:

The Asphalt Paving Equipment Operator is a skilled position responsible for operating a variety of asphalt equipment and required labor duties. The position is part of a crew that is responsible for various size asphalt and civil construction projects. The position requires consistent adherence to the companys safety policies and procedures.

Job Duties:

* Operate all types of asphalt paving equipment including; asphalt paver, screed, rollers, broom skid steer, and backhoe.

* Coordinate backing of truck and dumping asphalt into paver.

* Shovel, rake and spread asphalt.

* Assist in placement, displacement, and moving various traffic control devices.

* Set up and tear down equipment.

* Regular and predictable attendance at assigned times is required.

* Ensure a safe work environment in compliance with all safety policies and procedures using the appropriate tools and equipment for the task

* Other duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

* Thorough knowledge of applicable safety precautions.

* Strong communication skills to coordinate work flow with crew and foreman.

* Ability to work under general supervision according to work schedule.

* Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency.

* Must be able to lift, push, pull, or carry objects, use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue and to effectively jump, sprint, or throw an object.

Work Environment:

* Regularly works near moving mechanical parts and in outside conditions that include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust, fumes, and asphalt.

* Noise level is generally loud.

* This crew position is located out of the Houma location.

Job Type: Full-time, Nonexempt (hourly)
