About us
Founded by a vote of the Citizens in November of 1978, Hughes County EMS became the sole source, citizen owned-taxpayer funded EMS agency for the entirety of Hughes County Oklahoma. HCEMS covers approx. 860 sq. miles of urban/rural environment. HCEMS responds to medical emergencies and accidents in 11 communities, 3 recreational lakes, and covers over 900 miles of road. HCEMS is a ALS level service, utilizing Advanced Life Support(ALS)-Intermediates, and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)-Paramedics.

HCEMS employs over 20 personnel ranging from EMTs, Intermediates, to Paramedics. Utilizing the very best equipment to deliver quality medical care to the citizens and visitors to Hughes County.

Full Time Position working 48/96 shifts
24 Hr Shifts.
Stations located in Calvin OK, Holdenville, OK, Wetumka OK. - Must have reliable transportation to these locations.

**Job Summary:**

This is a skilled position responsible for administrative, professional and instructional work. This position deals with the development, organization and implementation of education and medical training programs within the training division of Hughes County EMS (HCEMS). The EMS Clinical Operations Supervisor is responsible for ensuring that the clinical standards of care, training and education standards are maintained through State and Federal agencies. Work is performed without direct supervision at the direction of the Medical Director and EMS Chief.

**Duties:**

  • Supervise and lead a team of healthcare professionals to ensure the delivery of high-quality patient care
  • The management of instructional resources, records, and reports.
  • Conduct physical examinations and assessments to develop appropriate care plans
  • Monitor and manage patient care systems to optimize efficiency and effectiveness
  • Provide guidance and support in emergency medicine situations
  • Collaborate with medical staff to address patient needs promptly and effectively
  • Acquire training resources that are obtained within established timelines, budget constraints and according to agency policy.
  • Coordinate training record keeping, given training forms, department policy, and training activity, so that all
  • agency and legal requirements are met.
  • Evaluate agency instructors and FTO's so that the evaluation identifies areas of strengths and weaknesses.
  • Recommend changes in instructional style and communication methods, and provides opportunity for instructor feedback.
  • The development of instructional materials for specific topics.
  • Create and/or modify lesson plans on given topics so that the learning objectives, lesson outlines, course materials, instructional aids, and an evaluation plan meet department and State objectives.
  • Conduct classes using lesson plans that the instructor has prepared and that in volve the utilization of multiple teaching methods and techniques, given a topic and a target audience, so that lesson objectives are achieved.
  • Supervise other instructors and students during high hazard training, given a training scenario with increased hazard exposure, so that applicable safety standards and practices are followed, and instructional goals are met.
  • Develop student evaluation tools to determine if the student has achieved the learning objectives. The tool should evaluate performance in an objective, reliable, and verifiable manner.
  • Analyze student evaluations, given test data, objectives to ensure that agency and state standards have been met.
  • Coordinate with local, state, and affiliate resources to apply and schedule certification courses.
  • Maintain up to date records on all personnel for State and Federal review.
  • Receives, reviews, prepares and/or submits various documents including daily schedules, daily logs, vehicle maintenance logs, patient treatment and insurance records, supply requisitions, inventory lists, check sheets, incident reports, memos and correspondence and employee evaluations.
  • Responsible for precepting, or directing the precepting of all new employees
  • Responsible for precepting, or directing the precepting of all EMT-Basic, EMT-Advanced, and EMT-Paramedic students.
  • Must meet and fulfill the qualifications, requirements, functions and responsibilities of the Emergency Medical Responder, Emergency Medical Technician – Basic, Emergency Medical Technician – Advanced EMT, and Emergency Medical Technician – Paramedic job descriptions.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

**Requirements:**

  • Proven experience in clinical supervision with a focus on patient care
  • Proficiency in EMS practices and protocols
  • Ability to conduct physical examinations and assessments accurately
  • Strong knowledge of emergency medicine procedures and senior care practices
  • Excellent communication skills to interact with patients, families, and medical staff effectively
  • Must be 25 years of age or older
  • Must be a State of Oklahoma EMS Instructor, or must obtain within twelve months from hire date
  • Paramedic with a minimum of 5 years field experience
  • BLS Certification and Instructor status, or must obtain within twelve months from hire date
  • ACLS Certification and Instructor status, or must obtain within twelve months from hire date
  • PALS Certification and instructor status, or must obtain within twelve months from hire date
  • Associate Degree from an accredited college or university in related field of study (preferred but not required)

** KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES **

  • Demonstrated knowledge of or the ability to learn departmental policy, scheduling processes, supervision techniques, and resource management.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of, or the ability to, learn agency policies, purchasing procedures, budget management.
  • Knowledge of or the ability to learn record keeping processes, department policies, laws affecting records and disclosure of training information, professional standards applicable to training records, databases used for record keeping.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of or the ability to learn personnel evaluation methods, supervision techniques, department policy, effective instructional methods and techniques.
  • Demonstrated ability in the areas of coaching, observation techniques, and completion of evaluation forms.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct basic research.
  • Demonstrated ability to transition between different teaching methods as necessary to provide optimum student understanding of instructional material.
  • Thorough understanding of the incident command system used by the agency.
