Financial Systems Analyst

Location: New York, New York (Hybrid/3 days onsite)

Job Type: 6 month contract

Pay rate: $40-$50/hour (depending on experience)

The Financial Systems Analyst will play a key role in the setup, maintenance, and support of financial systems. The analyst will ensure accurate reconciliation and reporting for various financial products and services. This role involves working closely with various teams to document requirements, create test cases, and develop automated solutions for financial processes.

Key Responsibilities of a Financial Systems Analyst:

  • Assist with the setup and ongoing support for financial system reconciliation and position reporting.
  • Perform monthly and quarterly processing and automation for financial products.
  • Reconcile cash and transaction accounts, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
  • Review daily reconciliation reports and position statements, implementing automation where possible.
  • Develop and implement automated solutions to streamline financial processes.
  • Create reconciliation and validation tools utilizing programming languages such as Python or VBA.
  • Collaborate with IT and other departments to integrate and optimize financial systems.
  • Test models and data for completeness and accuracy.
  • Conduct data analysis to identify discrepancies and implement solutions.
  • Prepare and analyze daily, monthly, and quarterly reports to ensure data integrity and compliance.
  • Document requirements, use cases, and testing data for financial systems.
  • Develop and maintain detailed reconciliation and processing scripts.
  • Work closely with finance, accounting, and IT teams to ensure alignment of financial systems with business requirements.
  • Provide training and support to team members on financial systems and processes.
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, policies, and regulations.
  • Identify and mitigate risks associated with financial processes and systems.
  • Assist with internal and external audits as required.
  • Propose and implement enhancements to improve efficiency and accuracy.

Minimum Qualifications of a Financial Systems Analyst:

  • Proficiency in a programming language such as Python or VBA is desirable but not required.
  • BS degree in finance, mathematics, physics, computer science, engineering, or a related quantitative field is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency with cash-flow modeling of financial products is preferred.
  • Experience with cash and account reconciliation is strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency with Access, SQL, and/or ETL experience is a plus.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, excellent work ethic, and good communication skills are essential.
