Hugs Cafe Inc is Hiring a Hugs Cafe General Manager Near Mc Kinney, TX

Our cafe in Historic Downtown McKinney is the flagship of our mission and where we got started. This essential staff member will manage and lead our cafe as the model for fast casual restaurants with customer service that creates lasting memories through a one-of-a-kind dining experience. This individual knows how to motivate a team to create an encouraging and positive work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee restaurant employees and job coaches in all areas while working with the Hugs Cafe Chef to support the employees and job coaches in the kitchen as requested
  • Coach and lead employees and utilize established guidelines and procedures to achieve their

professional goals

  • Responsible for communicating special event and standard catering orders to staff for timely completion
  • Communicate with customers regarding catering order details and invoicing
  • Support special event logistics that include the Hugs Cafe program in collaboration with Marketing Manager and Development Director
  • Support Hugs Cafe Chef with events as requested
  • Take ownership of budgets and cost control methods to minimize expenses
  • Weekly and monthly analysis and execution of expenditures to determine cost cutting methods
  • Support Cafe operations by generating leads for new business
  • Attend and represent Hugs Cafe at weekly LINKS meetings when possible
  • Stay abreast of weekly and monthly sales figures in conjunction with annual sales goals
  • Perform Hugs Cafe Chef responsibilities as needed in absence of Hugs Cafe Chef
  • Oversee and participate in coaching employees and job coaches to ensure customer satisfaction and employee personal growth
  • Provide ongoing FOH employee cross-training
  • Support cross-training of all employees in collaboration with Hugs Cafe Chef
  • Efficient opening and closing of café
  • Handling any customer service concerns in real time including phone calls, walk-ins, and email communications
  • Encourage customer interactions by employees
  • Make guests aware of the mission of Hugs Café and upcoming events
  • Maintains staff by recruiting, selecting and training in collaboration with Hugs Cafe Chef and Cafe Facilitator
  • Annual performance and skill mastery reviews of staff members in collaboration with Hugs Cafe Chef and Cafe Facilitator
  • Maintain Health Inspection and safety documents and records
  • Maintain onsite employee records
  • Review bi-weekly program employee payroll to ensure it is accurate and correct
  • Maintain that all employees are current with Food Handler’s Certification

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • 3 years of food service management experience or equivalent education
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Strong Communication and Leadership Skills
  • Ability to lift/carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work flexible shifts/hours.
  • Ability to achieve Managers’ Food Service Certification
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications such as Word and Excel
  • Passion for helping others

LANGUAGE SKILLS

  • Ability to read and interpret information from partnering organizations. 
  • Ability to write reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with students and families/ guardians and other staff members .

REASONING ABILITY

  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
  • Ability to use critical thinking skills to assess the needs of students and take appropriate action when necessary

  • Have a clear background check with no related offenses that may jeopardize the integrity of our program
  • Currently CPR certified or willing to obtain upon hire
